Senate votes to end 'Fast and Furious' gun program

WASHINGTON The Senate voted Tuesday to effectively block the Justice Department from undertaking gun-smuggling probes like the flawed "Operation Fast and Furious" aimed at breaking up networks running guns to Mexican drug cartels but that lost track of hundreds of the weapons, some of which were used to commit crimes in Mexico and the United States.

The 99-0 vote would block the government from transferring guns to drug cartels unless federal agents "continuously monitor or control" the weapons. The amendment's sponsor, Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, called the vote "just the first step towards ensuring that such a foolish operation can never be repeated by our own law enforcement."

Now if only they would end the BATFE and prosecute the ones who came up with Fast and Furious.

Well, if that is not open ended and vague....

Of course they did [voted to end]. Too much public outcry, too much of a scandal [Gunrunnergate] to not do something. Double bonus, gave the sheep a reason to trust them [lawmakers] again.

Anyone taking bets that nothing will change?

Congress can't even get DOJ to truthfully answer a question, let alone comply with a vague, sweeping generalization.

Just a knee-jerk reaction to make the "muppets" think lawmakers are doing something.
Same old song and dance...wake me if any indictments come out of this...I'm not holding my breath though.

I'm just one root in a grassroots organization. No one should assume that I speak for the VCDL.

I am neither an attorney-at-law nor I do play one on television or on the internet. No one should assumes my opinion is legal advice.

It fell apart too quickly and the truth got out faster than they anticipated. This is the only reason it's being shut down.

IF they were actually shutting it down for its blatant criminality, people would be going to jail instead of issuing denials and apologies and excuses. It still cracks me up that the person who is supposed to appoint a special investigator is the guy who hired Holder in the first place. White House police thyself? Yeah, right.

Now there's a shocker...just a vague intent to pull the wool over us
Why?? Because at the last second, the Police are minutes away.
