These enlightened individuals seem to forget without a second amendment it wouldn't be too far behind that they wouldn't have a first amendment, which over time seems like that is getting infringed on.

I hope Green Bay goes all the way!
I don't watch MSNBC either.
Since the beginning of this year there have been 316 homicides by gunshot in Chicago. This is raw data, and I do not know whether that includes shots by LEO, self defense, etc. (I think it does NOT include those, but I only got the data, not the specifics).
My point is this. If you use Chicago as the test case for banning guns; since it is one city which has effectively attempted to do so (ban guns except for LEO), in a state that has nearly done the same, The homicide rate in that city of ~3MM is one in ~9,000.
Chicago does NOT have the highest gunshot homicide rate in the nation. But it ranks easily in the top 10, and is far greater than many cities which are in states which not only allow handguns but allow for some sort of CCW.
Unfortunately, and honestly, the data that I found in a brief (<10 minute) search for it has been "tweaked a bit" by me to make Chicago look bad (or rather, worse than it is) in comparison to other cities. In fact, it is not that much worse. In Florida for example, Miami in particular the homicide by gunshot appears to be MUCH higher than Chicago... and Florida is the state we use as an "example" of how well "shall issue" works. But again, I am using RAW data from Googleosity, and haven't back checked or parsed all the facts.
Bottom Line though, is this... Chicago is the closest thing we have in the states to prove or disprove the notion that banning guns will reduce murder by gun. Guns ARE effectively banned in Chicago, especially handguns. It still is in the top ten metro areas in the country for homicide by gunshot. And PROVES that if guns are illegal, criminals will have and use them to commit murder.
It could be worse!
