It's a Trojan horse. The camel's nose is in the tent. Will it make it past the senate or POTUS?

This is GREAT news! Hopefully, we can get the 290 votes to override Obama's inevitable veto. This is a major step forward for gun owners and our country.

I don't think we'll get a veto on this because I don't think it's likely that it will be a separate bill in its own right. As with the national park law change recently, I think it's more likely this bill will be attached to something that the Democratic senate and presidency want. I could see it being attached to a bill that both cuts spending *and* raises revenue, for example.
Even if this passes, I assume it won't help me with carrying in Washington D.C., right? I've seen people mention Illinois as it has no carry rights already, I assume D.C. would be the same. I really want to visit the smithsonian sometime, but I hate the thought of not being able to carry while in the city. Especially with how bad the crime is there.
On the bright side, I do go to California every few years and there are plenty of places left I want to visit. I assume this bill would give me the right to carry there?

Good. Let's hope it keeps moving. 272-154 is a pretty hefty bi-partisan margin.

Lets keep it going.
I doubt that the leadership of the Senate will ever allow this to come to the floor for a vote. Maybe in 2013.

And it's going to come out with similar restrictions as LEOSA did. Does not override federal law, so I believe carying inside the Smithsonian is out - federal property. but Correct me if I'm wrong plz.

Maybe the vote in the Senate can be set aside untill after he leaves............dunno.
