I do feel bad, because not all the citizens elected them. I am sure there are a lot people there who hate the new gun law. Why should it be right that all the citizens suffer the consequences of some people’s foolishness?

It's hard to believe that so many people have really voted to have all this corruption.
Well, considering how people use to vote I do not find it hard to believe

The regret I have every time I have to cross the border into Illinois is amazing.

Well, if you don't like it you can climb into your time machine and go back to 1937 and change it.
It isn't mandatory, if you don't want to pay the tax, then simply don't buy guns and ammunition, fishing and hunting and camping equiptment and you won't be forced to pay it.

I grew up in Illinois, most of my family lives in Ill., and they complain that I dont really visit too much, and they say "Is it too much to drive an hour?" I usually have them meet me right across the border in WI. My answer is simple "I dont visit too much, because i am boycotting IL." We usually meet in kenosha a 15 minute drive for most of my family. My uncle, the one whos house got broken into (a post i made a while ago) is the only one who really understands. He comes up to my house frequently, and we hang out, he has no problem with this. I just spoke to him to update him on the bills that just passed. He was not pleased, he hates illinois politicians. And even though it is law he said he doubts he will be in the state long enough to register them, let alone register his guns at all. Now i learned on this forum, that he is his own man and just let him be, so i am.
Mainly this is just to state, that even though he lives there, he doesnt support what they are doing. I believe that the time where IL wakes up and the people "reclaim" their state is soon. Its chicago where the problems are, and i dont see how a state should be punished for one of its horribly corrupt cities.

How does any educated person miss the logic that criminals will not comply with the law, and it will only penalize law abiding citizens? Any government, federal, state, or local, tries to make firearm registration mandatory in my jurisdiction and I will take to the streets in protest. Gun registration preceeds tyranny.

All joking aside I do hope and pray that the citizens of these repressive states can get together and evict the corruption that is their elected officials and ensure real changes that will benefit them financially and constitutionally.

I'm going to assume that the 2% ammo tax is added on to the state sales tax already in place. Not sure how much the sales tax is in crook county but ammo could be really high if there happens to be a large sales tax

Unfortunately "educated" sometimes doesn't amount to much here in the real world. I've known some pretty un-educated people that could make some politicians seem brain dead.

If you fail to follow the law you will be locked up.
Watch how they are doing this.
Started out 65 dollar fee on every gun, Then they said well we drop it to 20 dollars ok we can live with that.
2% on ammo that is just the start. Don't think so? Look at what they did with cigarette taxes more tax than the product cost.
It does not madder if it fails at first this is the test run phase they will slow and peace at a time run it through.

Embassased that I am from Illinois

Illinois HB 5831 and HB5167 will now get a full vote. First, we are not all from Chicago. Unfortunately, Chicago is a socialist dictatorship with Rahm Emanuel as "El Presidente". Chicago was dubbed as the most corrupt city in the nation and Illinois as the second most corrupt state by the University of Illinois at Chicago. The burden they are trying to place on us is consistent with the state government's values. The Chicago machine with union support has managed to deplete several pension funds and rack up debt in the amount of $100,000,000,000. The laws that accomplished this are incredible. Personally, I will store my handguns out of state. I refuse to participate in these laws. I will (hopefully) sell my home and move soon. I am not against taxation but cannot stomach the unjust treatment that Illinois is trying to get away with in these bills. Why is this important to everyone else outside of Illinois? Obama is from Chicago and has filled his cabinet with Chicago criminals and wants to do this "fairness" to everyone.

I'm not what most would call an educated person. But I do know its not about controlling criminals. Its about controlling the citizens. They know exactly what they are doing.
