at this point in time there is no real effort to change the laws
I thought there was a year or two ago. I am assuming it failed then, and interest just died out?
The Sheriff's Association along with some South Florida Dems fought strongly against it...the 'lies' won this time.

So its a dead issue? I don't expect it to come up this year then? I like Florida a lot but the gun laws are not as good as Indiana. They are better than my home state of Illinois though.

Indiana is great for carry. But the weather sucks.
It was last years (2011) legislative session. Campus Carry was the first thing that was cut out of the bill.
Then Pinellas county Sheriff Jim Coates crapped on everyones constitutional rights in front of the legislature (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqrLRePn8Js ) and got the Open Carry clause cut out of the bill as well.
In the end, the only good to come out of the bill was the "de-criminalization" of an "inadvertant display". If the wind blows open a cover garment, or if you bend over and a firearm shows you can no longer be charged. Before passage of this bill, it was considered "brandishing", and a Felony.
"The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it".
