Sounds like a guy that as a kid gave away his lunch money instead of saying no and having to fight to keep it.The problem with his thinking is that not every thug is gonna rob you and leave,a lot of these street thugs would stab or shoot you for the hell of it.If he decides he would rather give his stuff away rather than fight to keep it,so be it,but where the hell do they get off on deciding what other people can or can't do when it's their possessions and safety being risked

What sane adult human being could say this with conviction, of course he has a squad to protect him. If every citizen would just give up everything they have, we would have nothing but criminals at that point.

He is looking out for the safety of his officers, nothing more. The fewer guns on the streets the safer his people will be. He is not concerned with the Constitution the rights of the citizens or their safety.

It's all part of the Police Chief Cathy Lanier mindset and public safety paradigm.

Horse crap!!! Why are his troops more at risk when crime goes down? Study after study has proven that in locales where the public has the right to bear arms the crime rate declines. If the crime rate declines, everybody is at lower risk - unless you are suggesting that the DC cops are instigating the crimes - and I don't think that is generally the case.

Maybe the crooks would be less brazen if they thought their victim or a bystander might shoot back.

The government is full of idiots that are out of touch with reality. Mr. Quander is in good company.

He is a politician in uniform; just looking out for the best interest and well being of his mayor's voter base.

The problem with taking advice from officials is they make it official - they are fools.

Why would anyone in their right mind want to live in DC? The city is a cesspool of corruption and has been for many years.

This rampant corruption you speak of is nothing new. It has always been with us and always will be to some degree or another. The good fight will never be won - never.

Washington DC politicians have a history of being criminals themselves. They are looking out for their own kind.
