Administration Banning Re-Import of Surplus Military Weapons (M-1911 and M1s)
Help Rand Paul Defeat Obama's Million Rifle Ban! - National Association for Gun RightsI have not been around these parts (a member of this Blog community) long enought to know if the M1 issue was discussed (I'll wadger it was).
I am supprised to find out that they are also banning M-1911s. That is news to me.
Below is an email (pasted) for background. NOTE: I am not endorsing any Political Candidate here, just the fact that these weapons should be allowed to be returned and owned by US Citizens.
(if this is old news - Admins, please delete). And, I'm sure I messed up the hyper link, so just beat me hard for that.

Subject: Obama just banned the 1911 too?
Dear XXXXXX ,
Iím spitting mad.
I just found out that Obama, Clinton and the ATF are banning historic 1911 Colt .45 pistols!
You see, my staff and I have been fighting against Obamaís ban on re-importing nearly ONE MILLION M1 Garand and M1 Carbine rifles.
And NAGR members like you have made your voice heard!
But my staff has just uncovered evidence Obama is blocking over 300,000 1911 Colts, too!
Thatís well over one million firearms they are gleefully keeping out of American hands.
These guns were made here. They are part of Americaís proud heritage and they belong to U.S. taxpayers.
If these firearms came back home, HUGE numbers of law-abiding, freedom-loving gun owners will be able to own one.
And thatís an idea Obama and Hillary simply cannot stomach.
Please read the enclosed letter from fellow NAGR member, U.S. Senator Rand Paul.
Then fill out the Official Firearms Freedom Survey (
) and helps us FORCE Obama, Hillary and the ATF to allow these firearms to come back home!

Not that you should ignore it, but this isn't fresh news... it surfaced at least a year ago. Best action you can take is to write your Congresscritters.

The NAGR is a total joke: Beware of any organization with a big "Donate Now" sign on their home page. NAGRs resident hero and CEO, Dudley Brown, made an idiot of himself on the AR-15 Forums a few months ago. Dudley Brown claimed it was illegal for him to divulge the names of political candidates he supports to non-NAGR members. It went downhill from there.
These statements got Dudley Brown into trouble:
Itís illegal for me to tell you which candidates the National Association for Gun Rights PAC supports. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Federal Election Commission (FEC) expressly forbid me from telling you which candidates are so solid on gun rights that I want you to help us help them."
The original post brings up an e-mail we sent out about limitations on our affiliated federal PAC. Those who follow the FEC rules (which are EXTREMELY strict) know that an affiliated PAC cannot ask for a penny from those who aren't members of our main organization (which is a 501-c-4). And communications to non-members have been restricted by legislation like McCain/Feingold and other campaign finance deform laws.
