    Ny microstamping proponent - priceless

A couple thousand people showed up in Albany today to meet with their
reps. and hear speakers including Wayne LaPierre.

The NRA News crew went up to Michelle Schimel's
office for an unannounced and clearly unwanted interview with the
Assemblywoman regarding her microstamping bill. She actually let the
crew into her office and Ginny Simone interviewed her for about 10-12
    minutes.

"...sometimes responsible people...the law abiding... have to give up some of their liberties for the public good....." - Michelle Schimel

NRA News interviews Michelle Schimel, Brian Kolb and Steve McLaughlin
    on microstamping.

Link 1 doesn't work. Too bad - would have liked to see a longer version of her interview.

Anyone in office that claims we need to give up a “little” bit of liberty for anything should be impeached and removed from office.

So we have to give up liberties because the BGs do bad things with guns?

Is every publics official in New York an idiot? Sure seems that way.

Well, I must admit that idiot me had to Google to see what "micro-stamping" was. I fail to see it's usefullness. Note to criminals..either steal the gun you are going to use, go with a revolver, or pick up your spent brass. Given the number of firearms in circulation that aren't micro-stamped, I don't see this legislation either preventing a lot of crime or solving crimes. Besides New York pretty much bans guns, so they shouldn't be having a problem in the first place because we all know that banning guns stops crime in its tracks, right?

So, how would microstamping work if you use a public range and don't pick up your brass? You leave forensic evidence about that a perp could come in and collect then spread at a crime scene? Sounds like a lot of wasted time and effort that will implicate innocent people and waste more time and money. Ultimately, civil suits will waste even more time and public funds settling the issues created by clueless politicians and enterprising perps.

How has the gun registry in Canada worked for crime solving? Zero

How has the gun "fingerprinting" in a couple of US states worked for crime solving? Zero

How likely is it that the microstamping will lead to any crimes being solved? Zero

How much will it cost gun purchasers? Zero - the gun makers will just not sell in those states that adopt microstamping. Mission accomplished for the libs.

Yep, another another criminal coddling anti-self defense blissninnie.

Remington threatened to move production from NY if microstamping becomes law:

Remington Arms Company threatens to pull plant out of New York in response to Bloomy-backed gun bill - NY Daily News

ALBANY — One of the world’s major gun manufacturers is threatening to pull its plant out of New York over a gun bill pushed by Mayor Bloomberg.

Remington Arms Company, in a recent letter to Gov. Cuomo, said it may be forced to bail on the Empire State if a law requiring bullet casings to carry unique markings is enacted.
i can't understand why gunmakers keep plants in anti-gun states like NY.

Comparing the gun industry not wanting microstamping to the auto manufacturers originally not wanting to install seat belts...that's a wild comparison.

Just in - COBIS and microstamping seem to be removed from the NY budget. For now.
