AUSTIN -- If you're in the market for a new firearm, you are not alone. Gun sales are skyrocketing, and some manufacturers can't keep up with the rapid increase.
The increase in firearm sales is good news for many gun store owners. Normally sales are pretty slow this time of year because hunting season is over. However, with an upcoming presidential election, more people are stocking up on firearms.
This trend carries many pros and cons. At Sportsman's Finest in Bee Cave, gun sales are up 30 percent compared to this time last year. The consequence is hefty back logs for gun manufacturers. Some popular manufacturers like Smith and Wesson and Ruggers are no longer taking orders because they already have so many to fill.
When it comes to the top selling guns -- tactical firearms and high end handmade guns, you're lucky if you can get one this year.
Rethoirical Question - The big question is why? Store owners say gun sales typically increase during an election year, but this year there's more to it.
