He went on to say that the local police divided the citizen-owned guns into 2 catgories, the ones they were going to destroy and the ones they were going to keep for themselves...ugh. They were given a pittance for each firearm, similar to amount given in those (useless) buy-back programs that are held in metropolitan cities. He recalled it as being a surreal experience.

BTW, he's now a naturalized US citizen who recently got his CPL.
See, they don't actually go door to door searching for firearms like some of those tin foil hat paranoid types try to claim is going to happen. Think of it as more of a voluntary system similar to the way our voluntary tax system presently works. The government does not go to your door in the middle of the night and force ably collect your owed taxes. You voluntarily hand it over to them, much the same way the guns will be turned over.

See all of this hand wringing is totally unnecessary. It will be peaceful and totally voluntary, just like income taxes.
I hope we all feel better now.

Remember your Oaths (not that group of people, of late internet fame) all about that lately..........., but the Oath you took freely, to Defend and Uphold, of your own free will.

Everyone realizes here, I think(?), that you have the Black Panthers and Ronald Regan to blame for modern Progressive (progressive = regressive) gun control laws? What a juxtapositon.... no?

Yes, you would be correct to blame California again, and still be correct!

That's where it's good to buy a few guns out of the newspaper or local "trading post" types...at least in places where no registration is required on second hand sales...and I'm HORRIBLE with names (I really AM!)...can't remember the guys name I sold it to.

When I have heard this question before, I have often wondered who would be the "collectors". LEO? Military? Our fathers, brothers, son and daughters? I don't see it.
If I were the evil type that wanted the general public disarmed...I would use the U.N. Blue Helmets. This is why any "deal" Hillary is making with the U.N. gives me concern. Just saying.

Unless we are talking tin foil hat world it isn't going to happen. Two SCOTUS cases confirming individual right. Post Katrina laws prohibiting confiscation.

Eta: Heck, we even haw laws in Texas that authorize the governor to requestion weapons from the armories to equip us if he deems it necessary.

This won't happen. It will create a war. But if all the guns are ever taken, murders and crimes will be taken to a whole new level. Bats, screw drivers, knives, hammers, etc. will begin to be used as weapons and crime scenes will be.....nastier. Do people not think that murder happened before guns? Cain and Abel?

Yep, Reagan and the CA legislature were scared of the Panthers. When political hacks get scared our Constitutional rights no longer matter. Reagan was still at in the early 90s when he joined Carter, Clinton and Ford in demanding passage of the "assault weapons" ban.

As long as our Constitution does exist and we still have our second amendment and it has not been amended taking any of our rights away, then this discussion is perfectly legal to discuss On here and the person who brought up rule number #10 evidently does not know our constitutional rights. in fact any authority power who wants to disarm the people they are the ones who are breaking the law of the Constitution of United States, and all of those people in power took an oath to protect the Constitution of United States not to undermine it or destroy it , but it seems they all have forgot they took that oath to protect the Constitution and they should be reminded. And that is what the ((( Oath keepers ))are trying to do.

Perhaps this is one of those subjects that would be more appropriate to discuss face to face with your buddies and some coffee...

This is off topic… you should always get a bill of sale for one simple reason if that gun comes up in a murder or crime YOU are still legally responsible for it unless you can prove who you sold it to if it registered to you….OK back on topic
