It all depends on the enemy and what they want to accomplish.
Simply look at how long we have been and will continue to be in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting a bunch of backwoods folks with AK's. How long were we in Vietnam?
If their goal is to wipe the US soil clean then no, no army of hunters is going to matter. If they want to take control of the US that is a whole other scenario.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.
