Terrific. Now we can shoot ourselves after listening to all the BS.
Thread title is misleading.
They are not allowed at the convention, they are allowed on the streets surrounding the convention.
Big difference.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I used the article title as the thread title but added the Secret Service sentance so that it was understood before reading the article.
The mayor of Tampa had originally attempted to ban all CCW by permit holders from the city during the convention but this was not allowed by Gov. Scott and rightfully so.

Buckhorn said last month that the state law, which prohibits the city from temporarily banning handguns, makes the city "look silly" because officials can prohibit water guns but not real ones, The Associated Press reported.
"There is no reason to have a concealed firearm in downtown Tampa that week," Buckhorn said in Wednesday's statement. "And, to be clear, I am far less concerned with those who have concealed weapons permits than the ones who may somehow acquire a weapon and use it to create mayhem."

He is really worried about making his city look "silly"? Yeah, that would be more important to me than safety or the decisions that would be made based on the meeting. Wow.
So if there is no reason to have a concealed firearm, then there should be no reason to ban super soakers, poles and bottles either, right?
What a tool.
