Contact Governor Nixon and Urge Him to Sign HB 1647 Into Law
House Bill 1647, which was passed by both chambers of the Missouri legislature last month and currently awaits Governor Jay Nixon’s (D) signature, has once again come under attack. The Missouri Press Association is working with Missouri Prosecuting Attorneys to undermine your rights by pushing for Governor Nixon to veto this common-sense Right to Carry legislation. Don't let the media and power-hungry prosecutors win this battle. If they do, HB 1647 will not become law, and law-abiding citizens and our active duty military will lose! Contact Governor Nixon today and urge him to sign HB 1647 into law.
HB 1647, authored by state Representative Jeanie Riddle (R-20) and shepherded through the Senate by state Senator Mike Kehoe (R-6), contains several important Right-to-Carry reforms. If enacted, this bill would lower the Right-to-Carry age for active duty military stationed in Missouri from 21 to 18, remove the penalty for accidental exposure of a concealed firearm by persons who have a right-to-carry permit, establish gun rights restoration for those who are currently prohibited from restoring their Second Amendment rights, and provide a relief-from-disabilities process allowing an individual to get his or her firearm rights restored. Additionally, this legislation would legalize auto-opening knife ownership.
