Mexico urges U.S. to review gun laws after Colorado shooting
    MEXICO CITY | Sat Jul 21, 2012 4:44pm EDT

File this in the (you can't make this up category). These are the same people who do not allow the 99% of their population to own guns, but Drug wars have killed in excess of, say 60,000 Mexican Citizens over the past couple of years. Add in Fast and Furious, and this really rubs my butt the wrong way.

(Reuters) - Mexican President Felipe Calderon condemned U.S. gun laws as "mistaken" and urged Washington to review them after a shooter killed 12 people and injured more than 50 others at a U.S. movie theater on Friday.

....."Because of the Aurora, Colorado tragedy, the American Congress must review its mistaken legislation on guns. It's doing damage to us all," Calderon said.

The presidency of Calderon, who leaves office at the end of November, has been overshadowed by his efforts to crack down on the drug gangs. Fighting among the cartels and their clashes with the state have killed more than 55,000 people since 2007.

Unsurprising, politically-motivated pleas being what they are.

But it's interesting to note such statements coming from a people (MX) that has learned the painful reality of what a relatively high inability to effectively defend against violent criminal attack really means ...

    Figures from 2009:

    USA:
    • 313M people
    • Rate of firearms ownership by citizens: 88 per 100 people
    • Rate of firearm-related homicide: 2.98 per 100K
    • Rate of homicide by any means: 4.96 per 100K

    MEX:
    • 111M people
    • Rate of firearms ownership by citizens: 15 per 100 people
    • Rate of firearm-related homicide: 7.9 per 100K
    • Rate of homicide by any means: 17.7 per 100K
Yeah. "Workable" doesn't seem a term to describe the MX approach.

Anyone ever wonder if Calderon and Bloomberg are related? They both spew the same crap every time they open their mouths.

Mexico needn't worry about our legally armed citizens in the US. They have to worry about our government supplying guns to to their own home-grown drug cartels.

Mexico need to clean their own house before telling us how dirty ours is. A day with "only" 12 deaths is a quiet day down there.

This is just unbelievable coming from the pres. of the most corrupt,poverty-stricken country in this hemisphere. They kill people by the busloads, and spray bullets across the border into our cities.

If he doesn't like our laws, perhaps he should stay in Mexico. In fact he could organize a boycott and encourage people to illegally immigrate to Panama instead of the U.S. That will teach us!

Mexico is obviously a better place and we should learn from them. That's why so many Americans are crossing the border illegally to improve their quality of life.

Mexico is a beautiful country and the people are, generally speaking, warm, hard working, and extremely family oriented people. The disrespectful comments here regarding that country and her people trouble me. I had occasion to live and raise my children there and as a "gringo" was always treated respectfully...When we would return to the states we used to tell our children " Be careful...we are not in Mexico anymore". Such was the safety of the country before the horrific drug war that we wage allowed the underbelly of that country to become wealthier then the country herself. The politicians there are the same as politicians everywhere, including here. They say what they believe will get them re-elected, or solidify their base support. If you disagree with something done in this country do you speak ill of the United States?...No...you speak about those who bring about the policies you disagree with...to those who addressed Calderon's comments carry on... to those who speak ill of the country and her people...shame on you.

( Oh, by the way...check your facts on illegal immigration...there is a net loss in those illegally coming into this country over the last 4 years from Mexico...more leave then come in other words...it has always been an economic concern for those who illegally cross our boarders from that country...once the economy here tanked, they stopped coming....Coming here illegally is not right, but they do not leave there to come here because they "hate" their country, or because they consider our country better...they come because they wish to feed their families...just saying)

I am good on my facts, pretty sure there are more illegal immigrants from Mexico to U.S. than U.S. to Mexico. That was the only point I made, I do not generalize a people based on drug lords, stupid politicians, unstable economy, high murder rates, etc.etc.
