I'd like to see more about this bill, just for curiosities sake. If it means that any dealer would have to get an FFL, then this would effectively squash my ability to buy handgun ammo. Being that I'm not 21, my only outlet for ammo is a hardware store that doesn't have an FFL, so they don't fall under the federal restrictions and can sell any ammo to anyone 18+.
I doubt it will make it through, but you never know.

Good news for me though.... The wife saw it before I did and told me I better order a case of 357 sig ammo right away! Which I did.... I never argue with the wife when she supports my habit.

No, a Founder. AccessBob thought the flounder slap would be sufficient. Me, I'd like to dredge up a few of the original Founders and sock it to 'em. The way some of them think, and with all the deadwood on the books, it's about all that has a prayer of changing things quickly, short of revolution.

The bill may have been introduced to the White House, but it hasn't even gone to a committee yet and doesn't have the support of other democrats: "lawmakers have stood alone in their plight as fellow Democrats in Washington, the White House and other Democratic officials have suggested gun control will continue to have little traction ahead of of Election Day" - from a link in the original article.

What I fail to understand is why people are so partisan. To my knowledge Obama has not enacted or signed into law any sweeping gun laws. While there are definite differences between elephants and donkeys they are pretty much like fraternal twins... they look different but their genes are the same. In other words when you get down to it democrats and republicans aint so much different from each other. That scoundrel Bush gave us the dreaded Patriot Act and that hooligan Obama extended the law. That is just one example of our Republic's treacherous representatives.

Here is another article. It doesn't vary much from the initial post. Essentially Obama says that he will "evaluate" the bills that come before him. So, he hasn't said he is leaning one way or another. I doubt he will want to tick anyone off before the election. I would expect more of this to come after November - depending on how things turn out.

Because of the viability of the threat to liberty, of such proposals. The mere fact they're making it to bills and having ostensibly thinking persons support them beyond the initiators says much about the current state. The mere fact the elected hirelings have sidestepped and corrupted the Constitution in a number of ways (both obvious and subtle) says much. Together, the threats are very real.

I've said this for a long time, they can't and won't get our weapons i.e., RKBA,but they can cause the ammo to be so expensive and fall under so many laws that we want be able to afford it,it's already happening. They claim they can't ship primers with powder because of "Terrorists",ha-ha,it is an attempt to raise prices and regulate away the ammo.

Don't want to derail this thread, so I am sending you to this one:

Have fun deciphering the arguments going on there. My latest media link has a bit of an update, though.

No big surprises here. Carolyn McCarthy is always trying to get anti-gun legislation passed.

Obama has been very open about enacting and voting for anti gun laws during his career. If he's elected to a 2nd term, he'll be a real danger to our 2nd amendment rights so don't be so quick to paint "all politicians" with the same broad brush.
Obama's record:
Midwestern "bitter clingers" frustrated over broken promises. (Aug 2009)
Opposed bill okaying illegal gun use in home invasions. (Aug 2008)
Ok for states & cities to determine local gun laws. (Apr 2008)
FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban. (Apr 2008)
April 2008: "Bittergate" labeled Obama elitist. (Apr 2008)
Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok. (Feb 2008)
Provide some common-sense enforcement on gun licensing. (Jan 2008)
2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month. (Oct 2007)
Concealed carry OK for retired police officers. (Aug 2007)
Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities. (Jul 2007)
Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality. (Oct 2006)
Bush erred in failing to renew assault weapons ban. (Oct 2004)
Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. (Jul 1998)
Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. (Jul 2005)
The end game of the Fast and Furious debacle was to show how American guns were responsible for gun violence/deaths in Mexico and therefore enact harsh gun control measures. Thank God that blew up in Holder's face.
