It would be devastating to many of us in rural areas. Not to mention a severe restriction on a persons ability to bear arms. I suppose they would do this under the powers they have seized under the Commerce clause.

More fallout crap legislation. I so would love to slap each one of them with a flounder.

We have to take this seriously. Some of us remember when we could legally buy firearms through the mail. It happened then and it could just as easily happen again.

I am really curious on the fineprint of this legislation?
WOW! That's their answer to preventing what happened in Aurora? Not surprising.![]()

I don't think you'll see Obama publicly endorse it. To much of a hot potato at election time, especially when polls show people do not back further gun control. After the elections, if he's re-elected, I think he'll throw all his weight behind it.

Disgusting. People like that should be sent right back home for blatant failure to follow their oath of office.
Not surprising from two smegheads from NJ and NY (both states with wonderful track records of running up crime by putting laws into place).

Good luck for folks trying to get ammo at a store that have an Ariska, Nagant revolver, older revolvers. This is the stuff I worry about, not all the time folks spent worrying about a useless UN treaty that never emerged.
So if one wants to accumulate a big stash of ammo for a killing spree, they won't be able to do it over the internetz.
Big freaking deal.
In my not really big town I've got at least seven places I could go and buy just a couple boxes of ammo at each. That's 700 rounds in one day, more if I buy 100 packs. Do it again tomorrow and the next day and the next; won't really attract attention as four of them are big box stores I'd not likely see the same clerk two days in a row. In just a few days I've got more than I could possibly carry to the gun free zone, er, defenseless victim zone.
Lautenberg and McCarthy are definitely not the sharpest tools in the toolbox if they think this has any effect on crime.
Oh, that's right, they don't care about crime control, just citizen control.

The only common sense gun legislation was written about 224 years ago.
I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.
Did anyone who posted already even read the article let alone the headline?
The Obama administration gave it a "cool" reception. That means he is not enthusiastic about the bill. He will probably do nothing about enacting new gun control legislation. Yet everyone is shaking in their boots like it is the end of the world.
If you want a conspiracy about Obama and guns how about he is the gun industrie's Manchurian candidate put into office to whip up hysteria and sell a lot of guns is more likely than half the stuff I read on the internet.
I don't carry a gun to look for or start a fight. I carry one to finish a fight I never wanted to be in.
Of course Obama picking his words carefully. I think the point of the article is that it is being proposed.
If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.
