Michael Bloomberg: Working With Existing Gun Laws 'Just Preposterous'
Not a mention on how many lives have been saved by firearms over the years.................(nope, don't want to talk about that).
.............Not one accustomed to being dismissed or ignored, Bloomberg lashed back in a phone interview with The Huffington Post on Wednesday.
"I don't think there's anybody, any rational person, that seriously could argue that what we have and the way we enforce it prohibits carnage," he said. "There's 34 people killed every single day [nationwide]. We've killed more than 400,000 Americans since 1968, when RFK and Martin Luther King Jr. were assassinated. That is more Americans than died during WWII. So the argument that we can do with existing laws and stop this is just preposterous. It isn't worth having a discussion about."
A co-chair of the group Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Bloomberg's proposal for additional gun control legislation is, in the context of what's been done in the past, fairly limited. He's called for a federal requirement that background checks be done at gun shows so that no one with a criminal record or history of mental health issues is able to purchase firearms. In addition, he's advocated for updated and more streamlined databases on gun ownership and purchases so that various law enforcement agencies can work together more seamlessly.

He's right. What we have and the way we enforce it doesn't stop carnage. The thing is, even in a locked-down, totalitarian state with automatons and a single-penalty penal system (death), there'll still be criminals who snap and commit atrocities.
What existing law fails to address is the lunacy of the turnstyle approach to justice, allowing criminals to head to crime school and be released prematurely and with enhanced skills. Elimination from society is effective. Short of that, any solution will be less than effective. Time to take the gloves off, on this one.
What existing law fails to address is the lunacy of criminalizing upstanding citizens for daring to take responsibility for their own safety where law enforcement personnel 5mins distant have no prayer of saving them. Time to acknowledge that unless an individual can survive a deadly attack on the instant it occurs, nothing else matters (for that individual).
What political hacks who treat the People like subjects fail to recognize is: the "gravy train" ain't the point. (The People seem to fail to recognize this, as well.) So long as they're allowed by us, the People, to continue acting as though it were, we'll not improve things in regard to everyone's ability to handle such criminals they way they should be handled.

'Preposterous'? Who even uses that word? I'm pretty sure it's reserved for use by pompous old blustery narcissistic rich retreads.
Who keeps re-electing this guy?

How is this statistic even relevant? Taking almost 45 years to reach that number isn't that bad. I can do this too: we should round up and exterminate scorpions since more people have died from them in the past 20 years than all the number of casualties we suffered during the invasion of Grenada. Scorpion control!

Yea! Thoes darn scorpions and thier high capacity venom tails. At least bees are single shot... then they die too. Thats what we need, weapons that kill the BG and allow for the GG to be killed also! That way WITHOUT guns, fatalities DOUBLE!

This waste of skin cells is a freakin' mayor, why does he always have the ear of every media outlet? I swear there are 40 plus governors in this country who combined don't whine and cry as much as this little piss ant. Suppose if the media stayed away from him he'd fade away? Yeah I know, wishful thinking considering most of the media and him are way closer than ethically fit. I wish someone would hack his teleprompter and get him to spit out some common sense for once, I wouldn't be listening of course.

The media loves him because he says things like this. He's a ratings-maker.

Scorpion control only keeps scorpions out of the hands of... oh, forget it.
