Politician of Unparalled Integrity calls for Police to Boycott Firearms Makers

No, not Bloomberg again; an even more ironic/moronic idiot who hangs on Bloomberg's coat tails!

....Former Attorney General Eliot Spitzer Suggests Illegal Boycott of Firearms You would think that even disgraced former New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer would have learned that illegal “Restraint of Trade” does not play well when challenged, something about antitrust laws and the Commerce Clause of the Constitution. Apparently, he has not grasped that lesson and has brought back a bad idea he first talked about in the year 2000.

My comments: These idiots look for opportunity, even when they know they will loose. Talk about using one whacko in CO and a bunch of greeving families to do your political bidding.

.....Writing on Slate.com last week, Spitzer again suggested that government entities, this time the federal government, the city of New York and the Bloomberg-funded Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) get together and use their market purchasing power to boycott firearms manufacturers unless the manufacturers agree to stop selling to the public both ammunition magazines “with more than 10 bullets” and, even more unbelievably “semi-automatic” firearms, of any kind

.....Twelve years ago Spitzer, then the NY Attorney General, and then HUD Secretary Andrew Cuomo, led an almost identical effort to have antigun public officials agree to refuse to buy firearms for their law enforcement agencies unless manufacturers agreed to abide by a so-called “code of conduct” that contained their gun control “wish list” they couldn’t convince Congress and the American public to support.

NSSF and a number of firearms manufacturers took swift legal action to put a stop to this unlawful antitrust conspiracy by suing Spitzer, Cuomo and other politicians who agreed to illegally boycott manufacturers. Once sued Spitzer and his cohorts abandoned their scheme. Our lawsuit quickly achieved its objective of stopping the illegal boycott dead in its tracks. In fact, lawyers for the officials disavowed the boycott saying, “…no code has been approved, much less applied to the purchase of firearms.” They further claimed that government officials have “…only made vows, pledges or other statements of support for purchasing preferences that are based on proposed criteria.”

I'm starting to believe that the US may be better off if NYC, LA, Chicago and DC burned to the ground...litterally nowhere else in the union do politicians try this stuff to this level.

Is this the same unparralled politician from wiki: "On March 10, 2008, it was reported that Spitzer was a client of Emperors Club VIP. The scandal prompted him to resign as Governor on March 17." The damn fool even paid retail.

    wow just wow

On the flip side I hope New York officers are carrying a quality firearm now. It will be an interesting test of long term reliability, just train officers in proper gun maintenance because they will need to take care of their sidearms with no replacements available. I know it would never happen some company would cave to the purchase but it is nice to dream right?

Bloomberg, Spitzer, Emanuel... It's like these guys stopped maturing at about age 14, and never really bothered to study law. They're so inept, that they really are harmless, but their intentions to do harm are great and so are their positions of power.

I'm embarrassed for them, but truly am concerned that these dipsticks keep getting elected.

Well, I think that New York gang of politicians are of the opinion they aren't part of the the United States and just set the rules they want in place. Spitzer has been a disgrace on so many levels - but the main stream media keep putting him on television trying to jam this idiot down our throats. Then Bloomberg is just light in the loafers - even his handlers can't reel this space cadet in. Then you have NYPD setting up shop in another state and think it's ok. Their thinking is so flawed they don't think they have to tell that state or get the ok from N.J. It's got to be something in the water at City Hall and at NYPD headquarters.

In response, I think the firearms manufacturers should take a cue from Ronnie Barrett. When California made the Barrett Fifty series illegal for residents to buy, Barrett stopped servicing any of his guns owned by CA law enforcement agencies. No parts, no service - cut it off entirely, and sent on open letter to CA declaring his actions and why he took them. Considering that Glock and S&W practically give away their guns to some big LE agencies, cutting off cop sales might have minimal effect on their profits.

Such intentions are highly illogical and, I believe, display a lack of competence necessary holding office or position of authority.
