But specifically in regard to firearms/carry, IIRC the CO Supreme Court has determined that universities do not have the right to restrict carry in violation of the state statutes (state-wide preemption).Quote:

My guess is this will go to the courts, in attempt to show the universities their place (with respect to the statues and case law). Would take a "test case" lab rat, and that person might well have expulsion inflicted upon him for the privilege of doing so. Fun, fun, fun.
Good. Permit holders should stay with our own kind, and avoid ticketed events like the plague.
Dorks! So segregation is ok now. Somebodies rights are getting bent over. Concealed carry dorms will be the target of protests, harassment, and theft. Someone will try their hand at martyrdom and bust in there in the name of gun control. And why is it the schools business who has a permit or not? I realize schools are liberal boot camps now but this is absurd. Our most important amendment is under constant attack, most of the fools attacking have no idea how much their lives will go down the crapper if we ever lose the 2nd.
The logic baffles me to no end.

Snip
Quote:
The University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs are amending their student housing contracts, segregating students who possess a valid concealed-weapons carry permit.
The university said Thursday that both campuses will establish a residential area for students over the age of 21 with permits. In all other dormitories, guns will be banned, the new policy states.
Hmm ... I wonder which Campus Dorm area will have a higher crime rate next year?
Discussion already running: here.
The only thing I can think of is that they are trying to prevent those without permits from having access to any guns. If you have one, and your roommate does not, he would probably at least know about yours and be able to "get to it"/steal it if you were not in the room.
Often colleges ban firearms on their campuses all together. Permit or not! I am currently a student, and the handbook for where I attend states visitors with CCW are welcome to carry, students may not possess a firearm ON CAMPUS AT ALL.
We all know which dorm will be safer.
