Sikhs are looking to arming themselves with firearms = GOOD NEWS

    Sikhs are Warriors by culture!

They suffered a tragedity and have suffered from being missidentified since 9/11.

I welcome them to enjoy a right that the home country of India does not freely allow - the right to bear arms.

Again, another group of growing US Citizens that (sadly through tragedy) realize that in the USA, they can bear arms in Self Defense!

Temple massacre has some Sikhs mulling gun ownership

Forget that Ober-God/Dictator NYC Bloomberg held a presser with Sikh leaders calling for GUN CONTROL right after the sad day! Bloomberg, um (Can't say it because this is a G rated site).

.... (from the article) “I think that being able to legally obtain and carry a gun is the best thing any Sikh can do, especially after 9/11 where there have been over 800 documented cases of harassment and violence against us,” Sim J. Singh, a practicing Sikh and Florida-based law clerk who carries a concealed handgun for protection, told FoxNews.com.

    ....
The Sikh religion requires males to carry a dagger -- known as a “Kirpan” -- for the protection of themselves and others, at all times.

“Our prophet said we should protect ourselves, and protect those who cannot defend themselves. He made sure that every [Sikh man] should carry a weapon,” Rajwinder Singh said.

Shall we welcome them to our fold!? I say yes!

There are a lot of Sikhs in California's central farmlands. They are no better or worse than anyone else as far as being good citizens and criminals. I have learned through experience to add the "Q-tip" as one of my "tells" for spotting potentially hazardous drivers. As long as a person is or becomes a Citizen and obeys the law, let them be armed.

More power to anyone who seeks knowledge and ability, particularly when it comes to protecting and defending oneself and family against predators.

If we could only pass the message and get a huge percentage of the general citizenry to arm/train themselves, then we'd be getting somewhere with respect to eliminating the predators from our midst. One slow step at a time, sadly.

Like the guy in the article said, "if you tighten gun laws it will hinder the law-abiding citizen". I agree 100% with that. Tighten up and the "bad guy" will be the only armed person. BG could care less what the law is. IMHO.

Good for them. Like they saying goes "To secure peace is to prepare for War", and "An Armed Society is a Polite Society". I am glad that they are taking responsibility for their own safety by arming themselves.

    I disagree.............you would arm them ?
I have a Sikh Temple less that 2 miles from my home here in NJ.
I'm in a super market checking out and this fella is in front of me....the sun shining through the front glass of the store lights up his linnen shirt and through it I see a curved sword tucked down his pant leg. Yup, we have a law in NJ for everything......so he can but I can't because they claim some religious status....?
Speaking of carrying concealed.......Not for it......IMO, this si the same as arming the Afgahnastan's...Crazy.

I believe that most everybody should be 'allowed' to defend themselves. If people want to be armed, and learn better ways to keep themselves and those around themselves safe they should be praised.

And any politician that thinks that shouldn't be allowed can [...]
"Rock and load, lock and roll... what's it matter? FIRE!!"

"Gun control means hitting your target every time."

If they are a sane US citizen they are allowed just as much as us.

The police are not there to protect you from crime, they are there to arrest the guy after the crime has been committed, assuming they find him. It is your responsibility to protect yourself and your family.

I have no problem with anyone who is willing to lawfully take up arms in defense of themselves. I hope they remember though, that just buying a gun does not protect them, they need to learn the law, learn how to safely operate their weapon, and practice with it.

It sounds like you should convert so you can be better prepared to defend yourself.

Or sue the state for discrimination and then see what happens.

Actually it is often difficult or rater complicated to obtain a license to carry a firearm in India...but, it is possible.

You might want to learn some things about Sikh culture. They aren't exactly Southern Baptists, but they are ideologically far far away from being Muslims.

Sikh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Protecting the religious and political rights of all people and preventing discrimination is an integral part of the Sikh faith.
"In the last two world wars 83,005 turban wearing Sikh soldiers were killed and 109,045 were wounded. They all died or were wounded for the freedom of Britain and the world, and during shell fire, with no other protection but the turban, the symbol of their faith."
    —General Sir Frank Messervy[87]
"British people are highly indebted and obliged to Sikhs for a long time. I know that within this century we needed their help twice [in two world wars] and they did help us very well. As a result of their timely help, we are today able to live with honour, dignity, and independence. In the war, they fought and died for us, wearing the turbans."
    —Sir Winston Churchill[88]
