....Residents in the Magic Circle neighborhood want everyone to know that the homeowners there may be packing heat.
The signs are hard to miss around 21st and Garnett. The Magic Circle neighborhood association put them up earlier this year in an effort to curb crime.
....But the Tulsa Crime Commission, the non-profit organization that runs Crime Stoppers, does not support the placing of these signs.
Its executive director said the crime commission does not endorse anything that involves guns and potential violence.
She said prevention programs, like neighborhood watches, work much better than letting a criminal know that the homeowners have weapons.
Magic Circle's neighborhood president said it already takes part in the Alert Neighbors campaign and the signs add just another layer of protection.

As far as the criminals are concerned, I have two guns- one that I always carry, and one that my wife always carries. And I have no problem letting them know that.

My home town!!! I love it! Way to go Drillers.
That area of Tulsa is less than desirable, but is starting to pick up.
Now if I could get me some sand bags and Ma-Dueces set up around Detroit...

This sends lots of messages, among them:
"We have lots of nice guns to steal when we're away from home."
"So make sure you bring plenty of gun!"

I may deter some, it won't deter the hard-core (they may even see it as a challenge).
But it shows pride in concealed carry, and helps get the message out that this is a community that is taking responsibility. Good folks driving by who are sanity-checking themselves on getting a permit might see that it's really okay, and more of their neighbors carry than they realize.

Concealed means concealed.
This is the homeowners equivalent of wearing a Glock hat and a photographers vest.

They would have been better off posting an "armed security guard" sign; a pre-warning is not always a good idea

Even the protection of lives. That is the fundamental disconnect that gets people killed.

I, too, don't "endorse" anything that involves weaponry and violence against me or mine. I'll also not allow it.
Such "anti" thinking isn't so much anti-weaponry as it's anti-survival. The sooner people see such poseurs for what they really represent, the sooner they'll stop choking on the Kool-Aid and opting to survive such situations.
In the meantime, these anti-life groups can go pound sand.

As a neighborhood, I don't think it's a bad idea... Not everyone carries, but many do. So, who do the BGs hit?
One of the reasons crime is down is allegedly the thought by the criminal that more people are armed... The sign communicates... that in this neighborhood, it's apparently more likely true.
It could be worse!

I think it says ... "you may be more successful robbing the guys across the street, than us". Wonder if the crime in surrounding areas will increase while their's goes down.
If someone is stupid enough to still do a burglary there, then they might be more likely to carry a gun on them. Burglars used to never carry weapons, now they are always carrying one.
Double edge sword. I'ld rather just "surprise" them.
