Assuming the federal govt wants to get involved, is there any legal instrument the feds could use to force the states to honor their U.S. Constitutional requirements vis a vis the Bill of Rights?

Beyond the (obvious to our forum) deprivation of firearms, like if Virginia told the newspapers that they could not publish certain issues, or suspended probable cause, could the fed act without someone filing a civil suit?

Just curious.

Feds can always "withhold funds" . . . that's the legal (?) extortion that was used to force the 55 mph speed limit nationwide many years ago. It's also used numerous times to "get a recalcitrant state in line" with whatever the Feds are forcing down the public's throat at the time.

I don't think the 2nd-A has enough support in DC for this to ever happen for our cause however.

Agreed with LenS.

Also, you have to think about this:

There is a Republican in the White House

The Senate and the House are Republican run

The directors of agencies are appointed by the President after confirmation.

The ATFE is being allowed to make their own laws, interrputations, and run roughshed over FFL's.

So, what does that tell you?

Right, no way in Hell that is going to happen.
