Why guns will always be a target

I live here in Washington State. I created a bill; it was designed to target gangs in a manner that would make them terrorist organization if one member killed an innocent citizen in the name of their gang.

Now I gained over 7,500 signatures. I forwarded them to Christine Gregoire. To know avail all I got was a generic response, Thank you for your interest in this subject. I also forwarded it to Adam Kline, Patty Murray, the list goes on, but no response from them.

I truly believe that Gang violence is used as a tool for politicians to perpetuate their agenda to disarm the constituents. Politian’s used to be afraid of their constituents but now they are protected but armed guards and their interests lay with special interest groups and lobbyists that have money. Now if I had a casino or an oil company maybe I would have been heard.

So if you think that gangs will ever be eradicated from our country while maintaining our arms think again.

The Governor is out this term and our Senators are not concerned about our state issues unless it has to do with airplanes. I suspect McKenna would be interested he is a hard case as the current Attorney General.

I would contact the second Amendment Foundation in Bellevue as well for assistance

Good for you becoming proactive. It was not until citizens started groups like MAD that started punishing the crime with mandatory time for drinking and driving that things started to change.
Too much of the time in Washington at least , gun charges are dropped in plea agreements. It makes the number of convictions look good , but at the expense of felony convictions for firearm related crimes.

Gangs wouldn't be a problem without such a large black market for things like drugs and prostitution. You want to get rid of gangs (a major gun control scapegoat)? Legalize both of those things. Their grip will be lost practically overnight. Classifying them as "terrorist organizations" isn't going to address the underlying problem. Until we drop the notion that government's job is to protect you from your own stupidity, through things like drinking ages, drug laws, and so on, none of your freedoms are even remotely safe, including your gun rights.

Good luck on legalizing drugs too. That;s what we need, more legal crackheads.

Reducing gang violence can only be accomplished by increasing parenting skills. No amount of laws or regulations will work.

Peckman got it right - it's just human nature. When something is banned, it just goes underground and then the war on it just gets bloodier as the price of that item goes up and up and up. I mean, look at marijuana, it's practically a weed that could grow anywhere and yet the govt has been trying to eradicate it for decades. Didn't we learn anything from the alcohol prohibition?

National Firearms Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Remove the underground market for the gangs and they will have to compete on the open market, and they will find that it's probably just better to get a job somewhere.
