Possible new CPL laws in Michigan

Lawmakers Approve Changes To Concealed Weapons Law « CBS Detroit

I was told about this during my CPL class a couple weeks ago, but can't find any new information. Curious to know peoples thoughts on this proposed change. I searched and didn't find any previous threads on it, but if there was, I apologize for bringing up "old news".

As of September 25, 2012 still no movement.

I'm holding my breath until there is movement!

    Yeah, right...

Same here. The one part that chaps my rear is the Arena part. Especially considering Michigan's liberal definition of what an arena is. Here in Kzoo I can't CCW in the large movie theater because it holds over 2,500 people. Astounds me.
If it does happen, I'll be one of the first people in line for the 'advanced' training.

Would be nice if they did. With as many kids as I have plus my calling at church, I spend a lot of time in NGZ's. Would be nice to be able to defend them if/when SHTF.
I can handle 9 hours of tactical training.

I've got this feeling that they are going to hold off until after November to see who the next POTUS is. Which will drive me nuts because while patience may be a virtue, it isn't one of mine!

EDIT: When it comes to thing I am looking forward to.

No gun zones make no sense. There is a disconnect in people's logic - on the one hand they will allow people to carry a gun in some areas, but will make other areas off limits as if those areas are somehow exempt from crime! And they think that the law-abiding citizen who jumps through hoops to get the CPL will responsibly carry their weapon in the mall, but as soon as they get to church, watch out!! Everybody duck!

I wonder how it would effect reciprocity with other states

It's true that Michigan has maximum available reciprocity now. Why would other states care what extra benefits Michigan offers its residents?

I do not think we will see any benefit with other states. Its just a tiered permit system that they are trying to pass....

Just another example of politicians looking out for their own self interest rather than acting on principle. They have had ample time to hear from interested parties, weigh the pros and cons and make a decision. Pass SB59 and then move on to new legislation that would prohibit employers from restricting employees from CC at work.

As far as I can see ALL politicians are expendable. In fact they should all be replaced at regular intervals. Max seniority should be your second and last term.
