Fewer qualms for gun-rights groups over Romney now
    Townhall, Oct 14

My Comments: I am posting this as 'Politically Neutral' and am not endorsing either Candidate by this post. This piece has good and bad points on both Candidates, as well as a good discussion on where the NRA is playing ball.

Be your own judge and vote the way you want.

The article does not say tha gun owners have fewer qualms. It says that gun groups have fewer qualms over his position than they did years ago. There are not fewer "qualms" since the NRA endorsed him that I can tell.

Post-"Heller" I'm less concerned with a national political candidate's position on gun control than I used to be (not that it's irrelevant to me now, far from it).
If Romney wins, I think he'll have his hands more than full applying that renowned business acumen of his to the economy, as opposed to alienating his party base with "gun control."
Besides, even Democrats these days realize that "gun control" is a toxic issue (except for the minority who come from very Liberal districts or states).
I'm not complacent, but I'm not hugely worried about Romney's stance on firearms.

This following quote from a guy in OH says it all.

It's the type of message that resonates with voters such as Stan Glover of Bowerston, Ohio. Glover said Romney's past stands gave him pause, but he's more nervous about Obama.

Were it not for Ryan, Romney would have a tough row to hoe.

These following quotes from the article also stand out.

"The president is not a threat to people who hunt and fish. He's an asset," Dearden said. "I'm a member of the NRA and they are beginning to more and more embarrass me. I'm a Second Amendment person, but I have not seen anything this president has done for the last four years that has hurt anyone's Second Amendment rights."

Obama's campaign highlights a law he signed in his first year as president that allows people with weapons permits to bring loaded guns into national parks and wildlife refuges. The change drew rebukes from gun-control advocates.

    END......

This is the proverbial bone the zookeeper throws the caged lion.
That way, it doesn't mind so much being caged.

He was trying to pacify gunowners by doing this, as if to say,
"hey I'm not gonna come for your guns"........For now,,,,,,,

    AND:

Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, acknowledged some hesitancy about Romney but said gun-rights activists were mollified by his selection of Ryan as a running mate.

"It created a lot more willingness to pull his lever, and at least some enthusiasm," Pratt said. "Ryan is at least one of us."

    END.......

Ayone who does not vote for Romney/Ryan, and enjoys the freedom to walk around society politely armed is a wolf in sheeps clothing.
If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.

Washington didn't use his freedom of speech to defeat the British, He shot them!

Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy." -- Ernest Benn

The real power lies in the SCOTUS, not the presidency. The secret(?) is to elect a prez who fills the SCOTUS vacancies with the right choices.

    - This is the kind of NRA member that worries me. The 2nd Amendment isn't just about hunting and fishing.

Mustn’t forget your state and local races also since that is where most of the easing of regulations have come from.
