That's the problem, the people are not clamoring for concealed carry.

"Illinois is the last safe haven in the U.S. void of all those evil rednecks that think that carrying a firearm is their Constitutional Right. Its a great State to raise a family since you don't have to worry about
guns at the mall, convenience stores and restaurants. After all everyone knows that statistics show that if you carry a gun, the bad guy will just take it away from you and kill you with it. Also, guns are inherently dangerous and just discharge for no reason killing and wounding innocent bystanders."
...."and it is just so "unsophisticated" to carry a gun for self defense. That's why we have police."
these are the typical comments I received while arguing for a concealed carry law while I lived in Illinois and with friends still living there. Nothing has changed.
If you think that Utopia is a place with nothing but corn and soybean fields as far as the eye can see....Illinois is your kind of place.
If you want to excercise your Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms, I suggest moving across the border into Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Missouri, or Kentucky. Apparently common sense prevails just a few hundred miles in either direction.
A concealed carry law will never happen in Illinois.....because the government there just does not give a hoot about what the people want......after all they are just sheep, and the politicians all know what
is best for them.
Kimbers are the guns you show your friends....Glocks are the ones you show your enemies.

Ahhhh, but it is "non-binding."
It'll get a collective yawn from the Chi-town crowd and gather dust. It's nice, considering the "other" headlines, but I'm not certain it will really produce results.

UPDATE to how the 'non-binding' vote went.
November 8, 2012
The Associated Press
Residents in some rural counties have sent a message to Illinois lawmakers: Legalize the right to carry concealed weapons.
Measures supporting concealed carry passed overwhelmingly in 10 counties where they were on Tuesday's ballot — Adams, Bond, Henry, McDonough, Mercer, Randolph, Rock Island, Schuyler, Stephenson and Warren.
...Snip... The Illinois House last year defeated a bill that would have legalized concealed weapons, but the vote was close.
Gov. Pat Quinn has promised to veto any bill that would legalize concealed weapons and pushed for a ban on assault weapons earlier this year.

Good percentage, for vindication of the will of the citizens: 100% of those polled (nbr of counties, if not outright population).
