A smart politician who wants to keep his seat will. All one has to do is remember what happened after the passing of the Brady Bill. They thought the NRA was castrated then, but werent laughing 2 years later.

Do not think that a very narrow margin of victory with electorial college votes is somehow connected to individual votes at the state level, where one state can have many House Reps to elect. The checks and balances are alive and well, and there is a reason this president has not pursued an attack on the 2nd Amend....they remember.

I have watched out Constitution get crapped on, Congress overridden, and the will of the people ignored for the last 4 years by calling it "EXECUTIVE ORDER." Can't see anything changing now.

Internet petitons are not worth the electrons they are made of. No way to verify them, but lots of ways to fake it. Even if it was done on paper, verified for accuracy, and handed over by God himself, do you think the big O would care? As much as I deplore the NRA's sleazy tactics and don't want to encourage them, I am joining just to help the numbers increase after the re-election of his O' liness
I don't always have nothing to say, but when I do, I post it on Facebook.

The POTUS doesn't care what the people want or don't want. He doesn't need to influence voters anymore. Beside, no one held him accountable for his actions during his first term, so what makes you think anyone will hold him accountable for his actions during his second term?

    Step 1
    Find a petition
    Step 2
If your issue is not currently represented by an active petition, start a new petition.

    Step 3
If a petition meets the signature threshold, it will be reviewed by the Administration and we will issue a response.
Apparently if the threshold is met, they are committed to issue a response. But hey, "no" is still a response.

Of course the White House can blow it off.

Got a better idea -- contact your Senators and Congressmen and let them know you don't want your rights trampled on.

We may just have passed the point where we as Citizens can petition the Govt for anything.

Just FWIW, the Brady Bunch labelled Obama a "failure" at gun laws in his firt year in office (with no change in the next three).

Obama was a failure in the Brady eyes because he had to be cautious to allow for his re-election. Now the gloves will come off, and we will see his true colors. Time will reveal all.

He hasn't signed nor even advocated for new law. When his attorney general brought up the possibility, the White House quickly shot it down. He signed a credit reform bill into law even though it had unrelated pro-gun stuff attached to it (lifting a ban that was signed by Ronald Reagan).

So is he thinking, "I'm a believer, I love guns now and I want to please every gun owner,"? No, of course not. But to say that he's not paying attention to the issue is to be blind. He might not be too worried about making us happy, but he really doesn't want to make us mad.

This pretty much sums it up for me too. The guy really hasn't done anything gun related in the United States. I'm fairly sure he won't as he's shown no inclination to even do so.
