Freedom means freedom, man. If we're allowed to have guns, we're allowed to have cigarettes, cars and baseball bats, too.

The absolute most dangerous thing in America is not even listed.

    Ignorance.

Any sources for the baseball bat assertion?

And we as a society will continue to look for the easy explanation. We can't be bothered with the tough questions. The media will continue to obsess about pieces of inantimate iron. I pray that some people find some truth amongst the chaos that it takes a man maniac to create a murderer

Copenhagen is my worst enemy apparently.

I wonder if justifiable homicides are part of those stats. The cause of death is still ruled a homicide.

The police are not there to protect you from crime, they are there to arrest the guy after the crime has been committed, assuming they find him. It is your responsibility to protect yourself and your family.

It doesn't matter. Those in power and those who have a soap box to sound off on don't concern themselves with facts, unless it benefits their cause.

If it doesn't, no big deal, they'll just ignore them and continue on with their rant.

To the thread-starter: I'm not sure where you got that list from but I really question that data.

How can you attribute deaths to tobacco? Even in the cases of terminal lung cancer you can't with 100% certainty state that tobacco is the cause. People who have never smoked a cigarette die from lung cancer. You can't attribute deaths from coronary heart disease to tobacco either. Comorbidities such as diabetes and/or undiagnosed insulin resistance could be the causal factor, but there's no way of knowing for sure.

"Medical errors" is really vague and such a broad concept that I highly doubt that it means anything. And wouldn't "unintentional falls" be under the umbrella of "unintentional injuries"?

Whomever compiled that list, where did they get the data on baseball bats?

I see your point about firearms but that list is ridiculous.

Chart with these stats says sources are CDC, FBI, and US Gov't.
