    Two General Questions

If the software accurately updates the forum counts; I'm curious?

I see approx 4,700 posts in this forum...way down the list compared to other forums.

    1) Can I draw the conclusion that EVEN gun owners care more about how, what and why than they do about their rights going away?

    2) Why are the forums here censored?

I understand foul language not being tolerated....

    but.....

Looking at old historical documents and letters from some of our fore fathers, I doubt the moderators would allow such letters to be posted
as they can easily be construed to be insurrectionist in nature if not flat out fomenting riot.

    Hmmm?

There are almost 4800 thread and 70K+ posts. Not a small number
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I moderate a paintball related forum. It is a private forum. I own it, I own the server. Therefore, I censor what I choose to censor. Freedom of Speech does not apply on my forum because it is private property. Don't get me wrong, I am not a censoring Nazi. But I want to keep the peace and choose to make it a place where younger paintballers can go and learn about paintball. So every now and then (really very rare) I have to kill a thread or ban a user to keep the peace on my own private forum. Definitely pornographers and spammers. Usually, I let people express their opinions and cringe when I have to kill a thread. It would be different if the government tried to censor my speech. But in my case, it's my property. It's not the same thing.

As far as people caring, this is the stat at the bottom:

Most users ever online was 15,992, Yesterday at 11:37 PM
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Apologies. I meant to say thread count. Still, it is far from the top.

Who cares if DC is not at the top? This isn't "Guns & Ammo" magazine.

I wouldn't call what we mods do here "censoring" - but we do actively moderate. That means bouncing out trolls, keeping threads on topic, and killing threads that wander into areas that quickly degenerate into anger and invective instead of intelligent discussion and debate.

Well, when it comes right down to it, it's not a beauty contest. Folks congregate where they can have rewarding discussions for them, and everyone's different. Some forums have been around longer and have developed a larger following. If you've seen the growth history of DC, it's not bad, all things considered.

This is DefensiveCarry.com, by the way. It's not a fanboy club for XYZ brand, or the latest "hot" thing on the market. It's about the deadly serious problem of defending your very life when the chips are down, largely. And that doesn't appeal to the mass market, on the whole.

So, it makes sense. And as the prevalence of concealed carry continues to surge, I'm sure attendance here on DC by committed, responsible citizens will continue to grow.

As for keeping the kitchen clean, everyone needs to do that. This ain't a gubmint site. It's a private endeavor. And as such, what folks say in another person's "living room" are subject to the rules of the house. It is in mine, basically. I'd fully expect it to be true in someone else's. "Censorship," though? IMO, so long as it's done deftly and rationally, it's merely keeping the house clean.

I don't care about how many threads or posts, or users there are. I care about the quality of information and discussion here. And I appreciate the way the forum is moderated to maintain this high quality.
