60% of murders in the USA are committed with handguns.

2% with rifles.

2% with shotguns.

Clearly, the statistics show where the focus should be with regards to gun laws.

And yet, for some odd reason, the focus is on rifles.

Sure, its because of the mass-shootings. But are we truly that blind to the daily killings in our communities?

Rifles & shotguns....are NOT the problem!!! So why the focus on them????

Why isn't the NRA and other gun groups driving these statistics through the skulls of legislators who want more gun laws?

Seems soooo basic. Sooo simple. And yet nobody seems to get it.

I am not convinced of that.

I have NEVER heard the NRA talk about this fact.

And as ironic as it may seem, the only time I heard this fact repeated was by Obama during the 3rd debate.

The focus is quite simply because of the negative press against semi-automatic rifles right now.

The reason that the NRA doesn't bring up handguns is because they don't want more restrictions on them either. They don't want to fight a war on 2 fronts.

Isn't murder heinous enough? What difference does the weapon make?

Will the sudden disappearance of deadly weapons cause people to stop killing each other? No, because they'll invent other ways.

The focus ought to be on the subject of unjustified killing, in other words: murder. The problem is that society is distracted by the tools, rather than the crime itself.

We just can't seem to put the blame on the person instead of an inanimate object.

Superstitious lot; humans are.
