Gun Control as Part of a Larger Agenda

    oakchas and DC like this.
I'd rather be lucky than good any day

There's nothing that will change someone's moral outlook quicker than cash in large sums.

Majority rule only works if you're also considering individual rights. Because you can't have five wolves and one sheep voting on what to have for supper.

    Yes it was...
Not quite "fair and balanced" but certainly an equalizing argument against the screeching gun grabbers.
    Rats!
    It could be worse!
    I suppose

Another look at the same issue. By the way, this guy does these reports on many issues, and he really cuts through the crap.

The gun/car construct doesn't really work...
I have tried to use it myself...
There are valid points being made...
    but...

It's difficult to commit mass murder with a car... unless it's a car/truck bomb. Cars are not designed for the purpose of killing living things... guns are....

you can say their purpose is to punch holes in paper, but we have much more efficient tools for that.
you can say their purpose is to provide meat for the table, but we have much more efficient tools for that.

You can say that the purpose of a gun is defensive... and, at that, it excels. And it is the only option that allows one to have a fighting chance, especially against a criminal whose intent with a gun is OFFENSIVE. And, the criminal will always have guns. If there were no guns, he would still attempt to have a superior weapon over those he intends offensive action.

The problem with cars is the same problem we have with guns... the problem is people.

The recent arson/ambush in New York state is a perfect example... A convicted felon, who had no right (under current laws) to arms had a Bushmaster and at least one handgun. He killed with fire (his sister, though she may have been shot before burning) and, with his firearms (two first responders and himself.)

He never should have been released from prison. He never should have had the firearms.

But, if he had been a drunk driver who killed his grandmother (which he did with a hammer) with a car, he would have been out sooner. And he would have been allowed to drive again, legally. He still wouldn't have been allowed to have a gun... because of the felony vehicular manslaughter ... but he still would have been able to have his weapon of choice... and, for that matter, I'm sure he could have purchased another hammer or 12.

The problem is the person... not the tool.
