200 Utah teachers take free firearms training
Utah is one of the 'few states' that allow anyone with a concealed weapon permit to carry a weapon in their public schools. the other states with such laws are Oregon, New Hampshire, and Hawaii. according to the story, gun-rights activists estimate that perhaps 1%, or 240 of Utah's public school teachers already have their CWP.
FOX News today (12/27/2012) carried a story of how 200 more Utah teachers are taking a free six-hour class to qualify for such a permit. the Utah Shooting Sports Council waived their usual $50 fee for this class.
perhaps someone with more computer skills than i have can actually post a link to this story.
as i said in an earlier thread, if LaPierre's recent speech makes more undecided people just think about and consider having/allowing more armed citizens in schools, then it will be a "Good First Step", as the anti-gun people are so fond of saying. except in this case, it would be a first step that might actually DO some good.

Good for them... saw it on the news, and applaud them for it.
Both those that offered the classes and those that went to them.

There are very few mass murders in gun stores where the employees are all armed!

The NRA should pick a Saturday in January and advertise free ccw classes for any teacher/administrator in every state and every major city across the country. The turnout would be huge and the media would have to take notice that schools cannot be left defenseless.
