Help me understand. Gun ownership is illegal in Chicago. Does this mean that criminals don't follow the law but only law abiding citizens do? I'm confused...
Rediculous...

Of course the criminals obey the law, shame on you. Pretty soon the politically correct term for a criminal will be "legally challenged".

Undocumented gun owner I believe is another term. So we continue to put up with this nonsense.

Don't you see...this is why IL can't have CCW. Obviously the already low murder rate would skyrocket if law abiding and trained citizens were able to carry guns

A tragic milestone and the year is not over yet. In the areas where these murders occur there is virtually no culture of the traditional family, no fathers, no work ethic, no desire for education. All the things that the great society has enabled over the past 50 years. You reap what you sow.
No law, no CCW, nothing will make this change. I don't know anyone in their right mind who goes in to these areas of the city. It's just something we don't do because we know it is a war zone.

I used to travel to Chicago on business quite a bit, but I would stay in and around the Financial District. I always felt relatively safe near the Board of Trade and the Federal Reserve, but didn't go into other parts of town on purpose...

Wow a lot of blood on the streets for a city without legal concealed carry.
See what I did there?

Yep, I seed it!
But wait, the murder RATE in Illinois is LOW (not lowest, but low). And somebody attributes that to more stringent gun laws... there was a post on it just yesterday...

Obviously Chicago just needs to post larger signs as you enter it's city limits that declare "Gun Free Zone". That would clear this right up.
Until then maybe Rham just needs to keep asking for the thugs to step into the alleys. Maybe he could serve cookies and warm milk to the gangs and that would distract them long enough to stop the fighting.
It's not a problem til they make it one!

There has to be an error in the statistics, we know from their strick gun laws, violent crime does not exist in Chicago.

This could go both ways, people can say that guns were brought in from another state where its legal so if we make them illegal anywhere it would for sure keep crime down. Obviously that would be extremely stupid but hey, never know. I just hope that it never happens

Well, it's easy to see how people can be duped. If you outlaw something (guns, drugs, alcohol, whatever), then problems associated with it will diminish or disappear, right? NOT! Perfect example is this murder situation in Chicago, which is basically one giant "gun free" zone.
I find it staggeringly ironic that most prohibitions actually end up making things much worse.

Chicago, Chicago, what a wonderful town!
Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago; 221 killed in Iraq, and Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire United States. Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago!
Chicago politicians of late:
President of the United States of America: Barack Hussein Obama (Democrat)
Senator: Dick Durbin (Democrat)
House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr. (Democrat)
Governor: Pat Quinn (Democrat)
House leader: Mike Madigan (Democrat)
Atty. Gen.: Lisa Madigan (Democrat) [daughter of Mike]
Mayor: Rahm Emanuel (Democrat)
Past Mayors: The notorious Richard Daleys (Democrats); father and son who both served as Chicago mayors for a combined period of 43 years. They were considered to have run the most corrupt political machine in the nation’s history.
Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley: Valerie Jarrett (Democrat); born in Shiraz, Iran, is presently serving as Senior Advisor to President Obama.
Past Illinois Governor from Chicago: Rod Blagojevich (Democrat) [presently in prison for extortion and racketeering]
Past Illinois Governor from Chicago: Daniel Walker (Democrat) [sentenced to four years imprisonment for bank fraud, three years for perjury, and probation for false financial statements]
Past Illinois Governor from Chicago: Otto Kerner (Democrat) [convicted on 17 counts of mail fraud, conspiracy, perjury, and related charges]
Past U.S. Congressman from Chicago: Mel Reynolds (Democrat) [convicted and was imprisoned on 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography… also was convicted and imprisoned for 15 counts of bank fraud and lying to SEC investigators. Bill Clinton commuted the sentence for bank fraud and released Reynolds early]
Past U.S. Congressman from Chicago: Dan Rostenkowski (Democrat) [convicted and imprisoned for corruption and mail fraud]
The leadership in Illinois; House and Senate: all Democrats.
The Chicago school system is rated as one of the worst in the country, but the teachers are the highest paid with a very strong union. (Arne Duncan served as Chicago Public Schools Chief Executive Officer from June 2001 to Dec. 2008, when Barack Obama appointed him to the post of U.S. Secretary of Education… a post that he still holds).
State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.
There is more; much more, but I think that you get the picture!
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois; this is his background.
And he is going to fix Washington politics for us?
WHAT A MESS!
