I can agree with the vilification of attorneys, but you are painting bankers with a pretty broad brush. There are plenty of good bankers - you just don't read about them. The country is in a bad spot due to two specific groups - bankers and lawyers, and many of them end up being politicians.
I could pretty much do without Hollywood.
"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."
The only show I care anything about watching is Justified on FX...which the new season starts next Tuesday. Given I lived in rural central Kentucky for a brief period, I can relate to how things work there. This show is spot on in that regard.
Know Guns, Know Safety, Know Peace.
No Guns, No Safety, No Peace.
Naw, Hollywood is pretty useful for Pax Americana. They generate a lot of soft power for the US in the world. Hollywood is like Coca~Cola. They give us a product that we want, and we pay them for it. It might not be good for us, but we'll keep on buying.
The only acceptable long-term outcome is to find a cure. We currently spend 1000x more on care than finding a cure.
It requires, though, people to be occasionally intentionally proactive.
The March of Dimes worked, because people made it happen.
