Please define (real) and precisely where is that (line) positioned?

Merely a discussion about guns and gun rights here. No conspiracy theory. I know for a fact that much of Washington DC sees the American citizenry as useful idiots, it's demonstrated everyday, just look at the last two elections. There's no focusing on one single event here as much as there is simply topical discussion within this thread. I do count my blessings each and everyday thus my concern when someone (Congress/President) comes up with something (a gun ban)that could snowball and threaten my continued blessings.
We should not forget that the spark which ignited the American Revolution was caused by the British attempt to confiscate the firearms of the colonists. -

It's a hypothetical argument at this time. My point is simply stated; bravado that includes the "my cold dead fingers" statement is easy to say now. But what will be said if/when gun turn ins or gun bans become common?

I posted this before and my convictions have not changed....

The gun grab may indeed come based on the rapid decline and demise of our increasingly socialistic government.
There are no easy answers and most answers would require great courage and sacrifice personally as well as corporately. However, one thing is for sure. There is strength in numbers. Especially numbers that take the high ground and are willing to stand against forces that would seek to grab not only guns, but our very freedom as well.
Can the government arrest and wearhouse 5 to 10 million people who are willing to pay the price for freedom and stand against a tyrannical government? I think that can not be done. We have a problem keeping the criminals under lock and key, much less citizens that just desire to live in peace.
If several million drew a line in the sand and did say, as that red headed Virginian, “Give me liberty or give me death”….we then gentlemen, have a game changer. Whether or not America, as a nation, still carries that spirit that birth her as the home of the brave and that kind of courage may yet be seen.
I for one, pray it never comes to that, but I am an old combat Marine who has lived the best part of his life to the fullest. I would gladly step forward to stand with a multitude of likeminded men who value freedom over chains of bondage. It was for a reason that Thomas Jefferson said: “Occasionally the tree of Liberty must be watered with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants.”
BTW, be careful what you post here, you may be called to pay up one day.

Between all the tough talkers and the surrenderist's( (I'll refer to them as "Frenchies"), I'd implore everyone to take a deep breath and count to ten. Nothing has passed yet in the legislature and the hordes of ATF, DHS, TSA and other alphabet agencies are not massing at front doors. Who ever shoots first, loses.

Just for grins, do the numbers. There are about 14 million hunters in this country (forget all the other gun owners). 14 million that know how to get about in the woods and know which end of the rifle the bullet comes out of. Say 90% of them give up their guns without a fight. That still leaves 1.4 million men under arms outside of the military. Yes they are scattered now, but how quickly could they organize? Would the military blindly follow Zippy's orders to fight Americans? Local law enforcement would be really hard pressed to try to handle that many folks who are probably better armed and trained than they are. Now toss in all the other shooters that don't hunt but are ex-military and took an oath to defend this country from enemies both foreign and domestic and I'd wager you'd have over 3 million really pissed off folks well armed, trained and ready for a fight. The socialists and communists might start the fight, I don't think they'd do well.

If there becomes a time when all firearms are banned in America the over whelming majority of gun owners will turn in their guns. Including many long time NRA members. Just saying.......

I can envision some of the younger bucks in my hood going out and proactivly taking out the (stupid ones) LEO to start to establish turf and boundries for the hords that will come over the bridges. Just saying. But the Teens are not stupid (even if their parents are totally liberal and stupid). Just sayin......... might happen.

And being fair - We already expect the LEO, when the SHIF to go and protect the family (we respect that and expect them to leave on that honorable note).

We will just have to fend for ourselves.................. so sad.................

I don't like the direction of the Country but in my opinion it has been a long slippery slope. Most people I encounter have been pacified by the good life. They never had to fight for their freedoms and don't have the righteous indignation of our forefather's did when someone chips away at them. Where does one draw the line and say enough is enough? If those taking our freedoms are skillful enough they will push us to the edge of that line line but not over it to action. In all likelihood a total gun confiscation will not happen in my lifetime but it will come in bits and pieces over time. Being older and without family perhaps I have less to lose than most but I can tell you that even with the way things are going I've got it pretty good. Would I be willing to be the first to stand up for what I believe is right knowing the likely result?

I have to take a moment and remember if this is reality you speak of and yet I cant find a single semblance of reality in your comment.

They never had to fight. That is until people start getting herded like cattle and shot like dogs. Then the iron will surface in many people.

If, and only if this turns into another event as the OP is describing, you are only going to have maybe 30% of the gun owners rallying across 3.9 million square miles. Talk about few and far between. There is no current accurate number of households with guns (estimates vary between 30 & 50%) so if spread evenly that's maybe one gun owner every 2 square miles at best, then whack that down 30%, and you will have an awful long walk to find another.

As for the hunters, a majority of them could give a rats butt right now because their "hunting" guns and related accessories are not on anyone's list, and they by and large agree with much of what the anti's are feeding them - by design. They want us divided amongst ourselves and it's working rather well.

Communication and organization - Reality bites. In 1770 communication was word of mouth, and easy to rally supporters and have them hide before word got to the opposition. Now everything is tracked, logged, and recorded. Response time is counted in minuets instead of days or weeks. Finding group hideouts is a matter of reviewing the latest satellite flyover. I have no doubt that some areas have a dedicated satellite and UAVs. Mystery posts on blogs or any other modern message board - Trap or legit? "Hide what you got and wait for the signal." What signal? Wait to do what? Sure as heck am not going to load up what I got and meet at "X" location.

"Just sayin" isn't an rhetorical point, just sayin. Let's talk from reality, 'just sayin.'
If the Union is once severed, the line of separation will grow wider and wider, and the controversies which are now debated and settled in the halls of legislation will then be tried in fields of battle and determined by the sword.
