Colorado Congresswoman Diana DeGette introduces bill to ban large magazines
ABC 7 News, Denver
Posted: 01/03/2013
WASHINGTON - Colorado Congresswoman Diana DeGette is plunging into the gun control debate with new legislation to ban high-capacity magazines.
DeGette introduced the proposal Thursday. The Democratic Congresswoman's district includes the site of the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School. It is also adjacent to last year's Aurora movie theater shooting site. In both of those attacks, the shooters' rifles were modified with high-capacity magazines. Those devices allow attackers to fire dozens of bullets without pausing to reload.

The problem with gun control is that drugs are already illegal.

She needs to be gone from office. I just wrote her and told her so. I will be sure to tell everyone I can that she holds no regard for the Constitution.

Rough night B? I think it's lame too. I don't really understand your criticism of his post.
In other news, yes, this woman is shaping up to be a nice little clone of frankenFeinstein. She would be serving a greater good to the people of her state if she rode around on a dump truck picking up trash every day.
Been calling it like I see it since 1988 and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

ummm Yeah, I think so. My wife and I both have been sick with severe colds since Christmas, and as a highlight, my beloved coon hound passed away in the night.
We had been struggling with her for the last 2-3 weeks with what the vet thought was an auto-immune Lupus type disease. Last night she passed away in her sleep. I had planned to have her Euthanized today. You never know just when the right time to have them euthanized is. She had been doing okay with some good and bad days. Last night she struggled a little at the end and I felt horrible for her. I had nothing here at home to make her passing any easier. But I stayed with her and comforted her the best I could. Her sister, "the basset hound" was there too, so she wasn't alone. I let my wife sleep and didn't tell her until this morning.
Sorry if my posts seem a little off kilter.

A reload adds 0.5 seconds to the time it takes to fire the next round. Going from a 30 round mag to a 10 round mag adds two pauses for a total of 1 second to the time it takes to shoot 30 total rounds. It would add 5 seconds (10 of the 1/2 second pauses) compared to a 100-round drum.
This is a cheap fix that gives the illusion of safety without addressing the real problems: mental illness, poverty, a culture glorifying mass murderers, and a reliance on the government to parent our children.

You can tell the person writing it has no clue ..... "rifles were modified with high capacity magazines", "allow attackers to fire dozens of bullets without pausing to reload" .
.... the "exaggerations" are just amazing.
But here's the REAL truth : "Gun control backers hope last month's Newtown massacre may lead to more action on firearms."
Nothing like using a tragedy , to support their political agenda.

Chief Justice John Roberts : "I don't see how you can read Heller and not take away from it the notion that the Second Amendment...was extremely important to the framers in their view of what liberty meant."

You know once they realize that mag changes are quick and banning 30 rounders really does no good at all, they will simply require that semi-auto firearms don't have removeable mags. They'll keep pushing and pushing until we have single shot firearms at best.

And what makes you so confident it will pass? The republicans control Congress and I personally don't see any additional gun laws getting past them in the near future.
