I applaud and support all of them..... However I am not a member of all of them nor donate to all of them.

I'm just one root in a grassroots organization. No one should assume that I speak for the VCDL.
I am neither an attorney-at-law nor I do play one on television or on the internet. No one should assumes my opinion is legal advice.

I'm an NRA, GOA and GRNC member and have been for years. If you guys want to keep your firearms, get busy, join the NRA and write your reps. ASAP.
The AWB bill Feinstein is proposing affects all semi auto firearms with a magazine that holds more than ten rds. So that includes your carry pistols.![]()

I haven't heard of a lot of these groups. The NRA is pretty much the main org that people think of as a national gun club. I doubt many people even know that the NRA is more than just a club for people who own firearms.
That said, have any of these other groups contributed significantly to fighting any major issues?

Laws are restrictive but sometimes necessary to maintain a civil society. Rights are nonrestrictive but are always necessary to maintain a free society.
Yup!
The change in NFS & BLM carry started in PA. VCDL was an early player. NRA only got in late in the fight. See: http://www.bighammer.net/timeline.html
NRA was late getting on-board the Heller fight.
At the State level (where much of the restoration of freedom has take place) NRA is often a minor player.
Here is what the biggest anti-freedom legislator in Virginia, Sen Saslaw, had to say: http://tinyurl.com/d69t86m
We also fight big time at the local level. I have lead the usefulness effort to have a number of bad local rules reversed & gun-buster postings removed.Northern Virginia Lawmakers Say Gun Control Remains a Tough Fight

Saslaw added that of the 39 gun-related bills making their way through the Virginia state house last session, the NRA was involved in just four of them.
The Virginia Citizens Defense League was the voice involved in most of them, Saslaw said. The senator described the league’s members as pulling out of the NRA and forming their own group because they saw the NRA as too liberal. [Note: We didn't pull out of the NRA, we were never affiliated with the NRA. However, most of us are NRA members. Many of us are also GOA and SAF members. But, hands down, VCDL is the driving force for gun rights in Virginia.]

NRA and VCDL.
DaveH hit the nail on the head. National lobbying (e.g, NRA) is definitely worthy of our support. However, many (most?) gun laws are passed at the state level. Don't neglect your state organizations.

Is there a listing of state organizations or maybe someone from Florida knows of one that I should be aware of?

I get spam from the NRA quite a bit, but I don't give them(or any other group) any of my money.
The problem with gun control is that drugs are already illegal.
Just bumping this up to see if we can get some additional input.
