    John Dingell to work on Gun legislation

    We may just have a snowballs chance in hell.

    Form article;
    Thompson announced Dingell – the longest-serving member of the House and a supporter of gun rights – as one of the vice chairmen on Friday. He noted that Dingell is an avid hunter and sportsman, and one of the primary authors of changes to the instant criminal background check system in 2007

    What may come of this IDK.
    This guy is pretty level-headed, and a very powerful figure in Washington.

    He's 1 of 12 on the so-called task force. I bet they put him there so all the "gun nuts" would back off a bit thinking the suggestions he will make will somehow change the other 11's minds and be much less than has already been discussed and promoted by Dems for legislation. Notice that 3 of the members noted in the article are representatives impacted by the shootings so their opinions are just about guaranteed to be fueled by emotion and not facts. But that's just my interpretation.

    ^^Your idea definitely^^^^^^^^^^^

    has merit, as I thought of that, but Dingell is not normally known to be a sellout, but there certainly is a first time for everything.

    Not like the deck is stacked or anything:
    "Other vice chairs include: Rep. Ron Barber of Arizona, who worked for former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and was wounded when she was shot in January 2011; Rep. Elizabeth Esty of Connecticut, who represents the Newtown area, and Rep. Ed Perlmutter of Colorado, whose district includes Aurora"

    Far too many avid hunters agree to banning the "evil' weapons especially if you do not ban their so called "hunting" weapons. Senator Feinstein has a divide and conquer provision in her bill by exempting 900 rifles(so called "hunting" rifles). While you can call her all the names you want she is slick as a greased pole. She readily admits she has been working on her bill for a year. She more than likely has been drooling for the right time to go for it. Her opportunity came with the school children shooting. While she tells everyone how tragic it was one can imagine she secretly jumped for joy.

    Those of us from Michigan know that Dingell needs to be put out to pasture. He is a perfect example of why we need term limits.
