Other possible reforms could include background check requirements for purchases at gun shows, a loophole that’s helped create a huge market of off-record arms purchases.

Honestly there are a lot more gun owners than the official figures. In my and a lot of other states private individual sales arent recorded at all and its perfectly legal. No background nothing. Once the gun changes hands once the serial number is useless since it only tracks to the original buyer.
If only 10 percent of gun owners dont bow down and what the comments on this article are talking about the government is likely to be taken over by the military to stop the carnage instead of attacking citizens with a clear right to do what they are doing.

I think really the gubment should more worried about what comes of this than the gun owners.

    SOS frankly.

They can't get past the House of Representatives, as long as sane people are still present. If you haven't written a letter to your Congressman/woman, and made sure they know you will actively work to replace them if they fold, you need to do so today. Burn their phone lines up as well.

Has anything good ever come from "speedy" legislation?

    Well stated.

It's way past time for every single thinking firearm owner to join the NRA and write all their reps.

I'm an NRA member but just sent them a $250.00 donation FWIW.

Feinstien's AWB will outlaw many more firearms than just " assault weapons" , including semi auto pistols. We've got to stop it. Now.

Agree, the last nation to turn socialist/commie, but our guns and that pesky Bill of Rights are in the way, too bad.

Really now, if they do pass a bill that says you cant sell your gun to one of your buddys without going through an FFL....how many of you here plan on doing just that? Its just another scam to make it more expensive to own a gun....nothing more, nothing less and it will do nothing for crime.

Its a simple ploy, but even many here will fall for it and some here on this board have expressed their desire to make it legal...without giving any real thought to it as if it would make the workd a safer place. They have bought into the lies of the left.

    It would be virtually unenforceable.

Except every law is virtually unenforceable when you don't rely on law abiding people to continue to abide by the law. I'm not saying you're wrong, obviously, because I think the whole thing is beyond stupid. What bothers me the most is how they (they being the libs and the lapdog media) make it sound like its some sort of actual law loophole.

I think a lot of gun owners would comply with it simply because they don't want to be guilty of some trumped up felony. I think what it would really do is just drive up the trade in market or possibly just not sell something to buy something else. Heck, I hate the thought of selling any gun anyway!

Right now I see a whole lot of people buying guns and not many selling.
