Well I am glad I am not the only one shocked by this news.And in this shocking development, water is wet...

As mayor, Bloomberg has authored some of the most frightening legislation I've ever seen. Over the past seven years, he has banned restaurants from using trans fat-laden oils to cook food and more recently has banned the sale of sugar-sweetened beverages larger than sixteen ounces at restaurants, movie theaters, and sports venues. If you don't think that is a gross encroachment of government authority, then it's time to wake up. Sugar is extremely deleterious to your health, as research has shown (we're not as sure about trans fats), but the government telling us what we can and cannot buy to eat is ludicrous and infuriating. We should have a choice, the government should not decide for us.
To that end, I'm not surprised that he's all-in with the gun control crowd. Might as well just put a police officer in every home to protect us along with our personal nanny to make sure we don't eat any of the bad stuff. Rant over.
