Hey guys armed school police is nothing new, The Palm Beach County School System has had police officers assigned within most of the schools since 1972. My four kids attended the schools and now my two grandkids and they see police officers in the hallways and the classrooms every day and think nothing of it. Google Palm Beach County School police.

There are armed SO's (and are LEO's) at all of the schools here. There are 3 at each HS. My grandkids and I were all discussing this ....... mainly me asking them what they thought.... and my granddaughters' first comment was .... "I don't understand why teachers who have CC licenses can't carry guns in school too, because they would be right there with us and in the best position to protect us " . After I got my mouth closed, I told her..... I can not argue with any part of what you just said.

She already wants her CC license when she's 21 and has picked out a Kimber that she wants. I told her I would buy her a handgun for her conceal carry, so she picked one...... I do not have any Kimbers, this is just what she likes "the feel of" and thinks they "are pretty". And yes, she not only shoots... but is a very good shot.

THIS! And Utah CCW'ers can carry in class on college campuses. I could be wrong, but I don't remember any reports of school/university mass shootings in Utah.

I vote yes with one caveat. If it's the idiot in the photo doing whatever that grip is on the revolver then I withdraw my yes vote!

I voted, yes. Fortunately down here in Texas things are already moving in that direction. All we need to do locally is convince our " intellectually handicapped" administrators to go along with the will of the parents. Might be a hard fight, but n the end I believe the legislators will help us out.

...and in a "planned" attack, that LEO would be the first target....
aside from that, the high school I attended covers a lot of space. it would take 10 minutes to walk from one end to the other... maybe 3-4 minutes running. even in smaller schools, 1 or even 2 LEO's could still be minutes away when seconds count. A teacher, who is a legally armed concealed carrier can react in seconds to incidents in not only their own classrooms, but adjoining classrooms as well.

I voted yes with the current count at 71.36% yes with 10,159 votes.

xXxplosive, the problem with the no is that it the current rules in most places have very a negative side effect in that the school ground prohibition overflows into other areas. As a result we wind up with things like parents not being able to drop the children off, employees not being able to carry even outside of the work place, such as at the store on their way home from work because they had to [sarcasm]disarm for safety (safety, my foot)[/sarcasm]. If some states, states which in my opinion have no business being part of this country, want to say no, let them but it stops there. They have no business dictating to the rest of the country.

Haven't voted yet, but mine will be a resounding YES. If budget is the issue...let's minimize foreign aid - its time we take care of ourselves.

Even the Miss America pageant is getting into the game, in which the winner was polled as to her position on armed staff/guards at schools for the protection of our children:

In the final moments of the show, "Good Morning America" weatherman Sam Champion asked her if schools should hire armed guards in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. shooting.

"I don't think the proper was to fight violence is with violence," she replied. "I think the proper way is to educate people on guns and the ways we can use them properly. We can lock them up, we can have gun safety classes, we can have a longer waiting period."
Politically Correct to the last, hoping folks learn to not be murderers but refusing to consider stopping them in the act.

Hope is not a plan. "Proper" or not, meeting violence head-on is about the only remaining thing when under an upraised knife, on the instant of attack; that, or dying. No real way around that one.

Stick to "the show," lady. You'll not cut it as a protector of my children.
