Hypothetical: Youtube Bans Firearms Related Videos

With that in mind, I think we can agree that Youtube is a great reference for example when we need help detail stripping that Glock, or degreasing that Mosin.

What videos would you recommend saving for "future reference"? Ex. Dis-assembly vids, basic gun-smithing, AR and AK build howtos, training drills and vids..

    It'll happen eventually.

So far I've saved some Glock, AR, AK,1911 detail strip/reassemble vids. I need to save the ITS Tactical "Build Your Own AR-15" series of videos.

All it'll take is Google/Youtube agreeing to cease hosting any firearms-related stuff.

With all the ugly Constitution-circumventing insanity occurring, I wouldn't put it past some of our hirelings to go after businesses that dare promote internal dissent, insurrection, domestic terrorist activities and the like. It's only a pen stroke away from being classified as such "activities," if the hirelings dare push for that. (Myself, I don't see it as likely, anytime soon, but it could change in a heartbeat if given enough political "courage" on the part of the hirelings to dare such a thing.)

Problem is that it is hard to take some of those videos serious when the person doing the video is wearing a Punisher T-shirt, and fits the stereotype "Gun Nut" image that the antis are flouting.

Perfectly worded videos pointing out facts about firearms and debunking the myths that the anti's are spewing, and at the same time they look like the anti's poster child, complete with screen name.

Facebook (ugh) has already nuked some pro-2A accounts. Pretty much all of the resources on the Internet are privately owned by someone who will do whatever they wish with them... or whatever they're coerced into doing.

As a Google Fan, I can honestly say that I do not believe that Google would do this. Google fights censorship tooth and nail and while they sometimes lose (China), they do put up a fight. Remember that viewership is revenue on YouTube. FPSRussia is YouTube's 10th most viewed channel, so unless they want to lose millions upon millions of views, they won't censor.

The only thing standing between a claimed "nut job" and "just desserts" is an accusation. At least, when it comes to getting an online account banned or (worse) presented to the "authorities" for further review.

    [sarcasm]Right. [/sarcasm]

The following is directly from Google.

    Weapons

    What's the policy?

Google AdWords doesn't allow the promotion of weapons or devices designed to cause serious harm or injury. The promotion of weapons includes guns, gun parts or hardware, ammunition, bombs, knives, throwing stars, and brass knuckles

Taken a look at Google's market valuation and cash hoard lately? (Translation: a few million hits and related revenues won't make much of a dent until it's far deeper than that.)

Hmm this thought did not cross my mind. Thank you for bringing it up. I am going to start saving videos.

As long as the FCC doesn't ban firearms related videos, I'd create a website called Guntube, and claim that portion of YouTube's market share.

If Youtube banned gun videos, some other site will come along and quickly fill that void. If there's money to be made, someone will be there to make it.
