    I happen to know a thing or two about survey methodology and I can assure everyone that poorly conducted surveys (as this appears to be) can be very biased and misleading - intentionally or otherwise. You might check out this link to Gallup's website and look at the second graph about gun control opinions over the last few years. It shows a very different trend that is not reflected in the current media hype. Gallup is a well respected company and they expend considerable effort and resources to obtain unbiased results in their surveys.
