Just one more patrol?
Dear armed forces service member (reserve and guard troops):
Would you volunteer for one more patrol before going home?
We, the people, are asking if you would consider standing guard at a school in your neighborhood here at home for the remainder of the school year, before being relieved of duty.
You would still be paid, duty pay. You may be requested for extra curricular activities, sporting events, etc., during this period of time.
We understand that you protected the children in Afghanistan,Iraq, and elsewhere... Would you do the same for our kids, your kids, here at home?
See, we need to do something... Something EFFECTIVE, right now. Something that will stop madmen with guns from harming OUR children, today.
Thank you for your patriotic service,
We, the people, of The United States of America.

The one marine who stood outside his child's school was thanked by parents, teachers, children, and the principal but he received a reprimand and a "dishonarable" added to his discharge papers since he was wearing his camo fatigues and not his dress blues.
Ridiculous world we live in sometimes.

Yes, but when you dig for the story it appears he was actually a marine but wore a borrowed uniform that had a rank that was not his etc. So perhaps the dishonorable came from that, or the fact that he had to go to a court hearing and was listed as "away without leave".
The main point I was making was that a spokesman for the USMC Sergeant Major Mike Barrett said that wearing the uniform outside regulations is not the right thing to do.

What "one Marine" is this? Info source, link(s)?

Marine who stood guard at Calif. school apologizes
As I said in my second reply above, when you read into it. It appears he did a couple things without thinking.

Re: Just one more patrol?
However, I did NOT mean unarmed. I meant as an on duty NG troop.
Just like post-911.
Paid for like regular duty pay.
