I don't assign myself to any one party. I lean more to the right on most issues, but I don't ignore those who disagree with me on some things provided they are the right person for the job and will do the right thing (yeah right).

The system is broken. I honestly don't know how these old geezers can claim to represent me when they don't even deal with the same things I do/did. Life must have been great back in the 1940s when these fossils were young.

Especially sickening when some old bat sitting on a soft cushy chair, drinking metamucil, with armed security around them tells me that back in their day Billy The Kid was terrorizing the southwest with nothing but a six shooter so I don't need a fancy whatchamacallit wizbang wonder gun that shoots down airplanes with one shot and can fire 100 rounds with one pull of the trigger. Only military needs those. I'm sure that's why no military in the world uses a standard AR-15, they're too dangerous even for them!

Much ado about nothing. This isn't going to be filibustered, and it shouldn't be filibustered whether the rules change or not. Many solid Second Amendment Senators have said they would not filibuster and would vote for cloture if one was started. They don't have 51 votes and the GOP wants to put every Senator on record with an up or down vote on the issue. Knowing that it would kill the political career of many red and purple state Democrats they have to vote no. Them putting the vote on the table prevents them from playing political games and appeasing the left by saying the GOP wouldn't allow a vote while telling the folks back home that they would never have voted for the bill.

As far as the rules go, the Democrats will regret it. As much as many of us are disgusted by the election results midterm elections tend to be bad for Presidents, particularly in their second term. That means that it is well within reach that the body will be controlled by the GOP in 2 years and the Democrats will have removed their own ability to filibuster.

Good point Echo_Four, as long as we aren't outed by any Republicans.
