How About a Sticky: No More Polls

Can we stop publishing polls on these forums?. Please.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows polls are bought and sold to the highest bidder; the highest bidder invariably has some agenda. Period.

Polls are easily manipulated by the pollster in many ways.

    1) Precinct or district targeting
    2) Limited scope of question
    3) Demographic targeting...age, race, income, M/F,...the list goes on.
    4) Phone Vs. mail vs email
    5) Time of day poll is conducted
    6) High Vs low sample count (High positive poll results in one area offset by negative results in a different demographic + region)
    7) Error of margin often too close to call

I can come up with many more; I hope we see the point.

Let's do a poll here to see if people agree with you.

All that you say is true... but, boy doesn't it make you feel great when you can vote in an unscientific poll and skew the numbers so that 87.6% of people don't favor new gun control measures?

I don't really care either way. I personally think if you think that your vote (or 100 votes) count or mean anything on a CNN poll then.........When the poll favors "us" then we say hey! that was great. If it goes the other way then we say "hey! they were casting multiple votes.

But if one chooses to that is cool. I play the lottery and my wife thinks that is a waste of time also
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

I don't participate in ANY polls even if they do favor my way of thought as I know another poll will refute those results.

I'll go out on a limb here and say polls are for sheeple.

First they came for my polls, but I let them because I didn't use them....

Why don't you just roll over & take it!

Any chance to get our voices out is better than none. Even if the originator takes his poll down when it is "going the wrong way" learns something. It may not change his mind, but the doubt will always be there.
Beside, so of them are honest.

I am not in favor of abandoning any chance of getting our views out there.

Whether or not the polls are accurate, we need to show up and show up big on everyone we can.

Polls send a message. You can bet that the media (and politicians) will use polls to push their agenda if it favors them; therefore, I vote.

Not gonna happen. 98% of newscasters and 72% of the population like quoting inacurrate polls.

In all sincerity, I agree. Also, when I see results that heavily favor the 2nd Amendment, it boosts my morale. I take it all with a grain of salt, of course, but at least it makes me feel better to see that others are vocal and commenting. It reminds me that common sense isn't yet dead. On life support, maybe, but not dead.

They are indeed another outlet by which our voices can be heard.

Polls serve a purpose, it allows you to know what the people are thinking at that moment in time based on past or present unfolding events. It must be remembered that there are many factors that influence a persons responses when participating in a poll, some good and some bad, based on their knowledge or lack of knowledge of the subject or other outside influences. The results of a poll taken today will not necessarily provide the same results if taken the next day, week or month.

I vote to continue to allow the polls.
