Well, what's good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander. Apparently, there are exemptions spelled out for certain individuals in Feinstein's proposed bill. From an article in The Weekly Standard:

Not everyone will have to abide by Senator Dianne Feinstein's gun control bill. If the proposed legislation becomes law, government officials and others will be exempt.
"Mrs. Feinstein's measure would exempt more than 2,200 types of hunting and sporting rifles; guns manually operated by bolt, pump, lever or slide action; and weapons used by government officials, law enforcement and retired law enforcement personnel," the Washington Times reports.

Feinstein Gun Control Bill to Exempt Government Officials | The Weekly Standard

Now, my rant button is pushed. Please don't take take this the wrong way, but why does retired law enforcement have an exemption that a veteran doesn't have and to what "Government Official" does this exemption refer? Let me guess, because I'm a military retiree, I'm looked at as a "threat." One more instance of individuals looking at elected service as a job and not as a duty to the nation.

I've got an idea, why don't we just enforce the laws on the books now as it is? Why not look at the Bill of Rights with an eye on the INTENT of the Founding Fathers? This pitting one group of people against another by granting special dispensation is further reinforcing the idea that there is a concerted campaign to subvert the rights of the average American.

That is where all the compromises will come, they'll settle on magazine restrictions and ban several guns, and maybe get all those that are grandfathered must be an NFA registered item, and in the end, they can say... "Well, it could have been worse."

This whole thing is sickening. And to be honest, pretty worrisome. Those who say, it will NEVER happen, not in a million years are being pretty cavalier about it as far as I'm concerned. It's not like we've never had an AWB and 10 round mag restriction before. We were damn lucky that it lasted for 10 years, the last time!

Yeah, I hope it doesn't pass. I hope we can stop it. These people are freakin zealots. And they have a cause. And they are dangerous people. One thing I learned in the military is that you don't dismiss dangerous zealots with a cause out of hand.

The thing we the People need to always keep in mind is that these temporarily-elected hirelings are just us, temporarily hired. We need to also ensure THEY always keep this in mind as well.

He is absolutely correct too. We are the only nation on earth which has anything like the 2nd Amendment in our Constitution. And people of other nations know this. When they see what they are trying to do here, they know what it means. Tyrany, plain and simple. And they should know... Most of them had lived under a tyranical government. Including our forefathers!

People keep saying, it'll never happen. Not here. No way, they don't have the votes... yada, yada, yada. Well, I say those people are not only foolish in their belief, but they're reckless in their assertions.

As I said in my earlier post, these anti-gunners are zealot's with a cause. They're like a dog with a bone. All of the anti-gun politicians are committed leftists, progressives with a desire for a new socialist type country. they've been that way their whole career in politics. It's not a secret. The only ones who try to deny it are fellow leftists. Everyone else see's them for who they are.

But they have power. They all have been in office for 20-30 years, slowly growing, becoming smarter, more devious and learning from their prior mistakes. Slowly gaining more power as they go along. Forging new alliances with like minded leftists. They are master manipulators, and out and out liars. And they control the media, (who are master manipulators in their own right). And they prey on the weak and simple minded. Right now, they are pretty strong. They know they are strong. They have Obama for the next four years and they are going to be looking for us to let our guard down and be complacent.

We only have to be complacent for a short time too. Take a quick cat nap and wake up in a whole new world. And they know it. Their plan is to wear us down. no one likes being in a continuous street fight. It wears you down. And they know they only have the next four years that Obama is in office to wear us down.

I think I have to agree with Bark"n, this isn't anything to take lightly, we can not stop applying pressure to our reps and senators to oppose this bill, it very well could be just the start.

It's probably because if guns commonly used in crimes were listed, this would be considered "racist legislation". Seems to be the case with everything else in Washington.

Lets ban the obvious guns based on visual appearance. Then pick off the rest a few at a time. That my friends is the obvious plan!
I carry to protect myself and my loved ones from the BG's. Not to solve societies problems. That said: if more carried the deterrent would only have a positive overall effect on those problems.

These people have a plan. We all know it. What not everyone knows is how wide spread and how many areas are the guns being attacked from.
They are in panic mode there is no time to joke. When the herd spooks and stampedes every one standing around with their head up their butts will get run over. The Media is setting us up with how this stuff won't pass. That's a lie it can pass and while the media works it's angle and gets everyone nice and complacent the Feinstein's in the government are working behind our backs to get what they want. Obama has been dying to let that dog off the chain. And someone gave him that opportunity. They are going to make us all victims living in a police state. This is the biggest threat America has faced in years. If they get this passed us now you will be living in a police state. they will come and get you anytime they want. Your home, your finances your family. And it all starts with taking away your ability to defend yourself. You think them butt holes are worried about some kids that got cut down by some wack job. I don't think so if they did they would do something to directly protect them. Not go some 23 states away and take someones gun who had nothing to do with it. Nothing they have done so far will protect anyone. Does anyone think Feinstein's list was put together last week? Its been together they just needed to tweak it a bit. Just wait they will tweak and tweak that till there is nothing left. Stand up now or just hand over your guns. And get used to doing what you are told.
    Sorry for the rant.
But its whats happening now. This along with health care and they can decide who lives and who dies.
