Exclamation Gun-related legislation proposed since Jan 1 2013 in House/Senate

    FYI

There are a number of firearm-related bills introduced in January 2013 in the U.S. House and Senate (via search @ thomas.loc.gov).

Feel free to add any additional newly-introduced bills that occur after this date, related to firearms, CHL or the Second Amendment.

To search for bills occurring over the last two congress sessions (2011/12, 2012/13): click. Try running for keyword=firearms, or keyword=weapons.

    Useful web sites:

    • NRA ILA -- The NRA's Institute for Legislative Action keeps on top of federal and state firearms-related legislation and threats.

    • POPVOX.com -- Lists current and prior-session bills that you should know about, while also providing a mechanism for communicating with your reps about them. Allows you to be notified of changes in status. Easy to find most-recently proposed legislation. Great resource. (Thanks to Crowbait for this reference.)

    • GovTrack.us -- Lists bills from both houses of congress, shows status, guesses outcomes, has links to bills. Can sign-up to be notified of changes of status on key bills.

    • Library of Congress' search of bills.

Man, that's a heck of a list! Thanks for compiling it.

And what's up with "NRA Members' Gun Safety Act of 2013". Are they expecting to fool people into believing that this is a sanctioned NRA bill?

Re: Gun-related legislation proposed since Jan 1 2013 in House/Senate

I bet none of them put forth any effort to get people trained on proper safety when buying a firearm. Proper storage and how you tell the difference between authorized and unauthorized access. None of them increase the funding or provide a means to assist states in handling mentally ill people and stop bouncing them around. Nothing about putting armed, even concealed, guards at schools. Nothing about changing the revolving door system for felons who use firearms in a crime.

It still blows my mind that they are introducing bills which state that it shall be made illegal to discharge firearms on school property, when it already is. They can't seem to grasp the simple principle that even my kids can understand. Criminals do not follow the law.
