Once approved, you will be required to pay a one-time fee of $200 for a Federal Tax Stamp per weapon (There are NO, REPEAT NO additional FEE'S,Dealer's Licenses or anything additional required!!)

With the GCA of 1986 (Gun Control Act) Civilians are not allowed to posess fully automatic weapons unless they were manufactured prior to 1986. The weapons manufactured before 1986 are "Grandfathered" meaning they can still be LEGALLY transfered thru a licensed/bonded Class III NFA Weapons Dealer.NO fully automatic weapons made after 1986 are legal for civilians to own or possess.

In addition the permit once issued requires that the permit be with the registered licensed weapon at all times and especially when transported. You must also show proof that the registered weapon is stored in a safe or locked container that meets BATFE guidelines. Issuing the Permit also allows BATFE to make a personal inspection of your residence or storage area once annually.(Usually announced prior by appointment)

A true Kalashnikov fully automatic AK47 in today's market would be priced at $20,000 to $25,000
Those are ones that were made before 1986. With all that you still can't own one made AFTER 1986. That is one reason they are so expensive....limited quantity.

Since it's "spreading on Facebook" it should be inconsequential and not worth mentioning. But looking at Facebook is probably how a large majority of people form their opinions on politics and important issues. This picture and quote somebody threw together and posted on their profile shouldn't even garner a cursory glance but when an idea gets on Facebook it spreads like wildfire and can be re-posted on a million pages in a week's time. That's a problem when so many people are so ignorant of the issues and the facts and history behind them. These little pictures and quotes can form a person's entire line of reasoning just from social media.

W/o getting into a history or Bio lesson on President Reagan; please remember his mental state was suffering some as well as
he himself was quite pliable to Nancy's whims who more than dabbled in the occult.

On a purely personal note, I always thought him to be a great pres; I always will...I believe he will be regarded in the history books long from now as a great man.

Whenever I've encountered these discussion, I start reminding everyone that the civilian version of the AK, AR and similar rifles are not "machine guns" and are not designed to fire lots of bullets very fast. Each and every time they are operating under the misconception that these guns are fully automatic and are available to citizens who can walk into a store and walk out with one. This is a lie that is being deliberately used by the forces who wish to push an agenda to develop a ban. You frequently have to post this statement several times, in response to several comments but eventually it does start to sink in. More often than not, they still don't care and will say something like "fully automatic, semiautomatic, I don't care, I want them all gone". While you may not be convincing the idiot who is responding to you, there could be hundreds or thousands of others whose position is influenced.

Correcting misconceptions, dispelling lies, and telling the truth are a necessary part of the situation we're in. It has been suggested before and is worth repeating: go out into areas other than pro-2A communities, join the discussions, and spread the truth.

I applaud you because I personally avoid any and all 2A and political discussions. People's minds are made up and in my opinion nothing productive can come from an argument on these issues, especially through social media. It's like trying to teach calculus to someone who swears that 2 + 2 = 3.

"... or needed for defense of a home."
Depends on the severity of the threat.

As home invasions, for example, get more brazen and bloody, often occurring with multiple assailants (3-6) in the attack, nobody can say whether a given situation wouldn't benefit by having more firepower at one's disposal. The fact remains that a person might well be better served by being behind a "bigger" screen of lead at the moment of violence, whether that comes from a larger caliber, a greater velocity (as with a rifle over a handgun, ie an AK or AR), or via a higher rate of fire (burst/select-fire over semi-auto/revolver).

It seems to me Ronnie was referencing the Kalashnikov fully automatic AK47 since he added the words "machine gun." That legislation was passed in 1986. That makes his quote irrelevent in terms of semi-automatic weapons. That's how I would respond.

I agree, a fully-automatic AK47 is not a sporting weapon. If this is the best they can come up with, their desparation and lack of coherent argument are shining through.

Seems to me most of the AK's used in Viet Nam were full auto, but they were used by the other side...

Actually, this meme is more on your side than against it.
It is VERY easy to counter-act this facebook message. You should be able to do it in about a sentence.

I wonder why they don't include his support of the Mulford Act in their campaign?

Yes, Ak47's are full autos and many were returned to the US prior to 1968 from Vietnam on DOD Form 603. I brought a weapon home but it was lost during hurricane Katrina.

I think that Reagan saw the AK-47 as a symbol of communism, which he was vehemently against. To him the AK-47 didn't have a place in our society because of that symbolism....not the fact that it was a firearm.

To be honest I might be 'projecting' a little as well....... I don't own any AKs or variants. I'm not vehemently against AKs (but I am against socialists), but because of where the firearm originated I just can't bring myself to buy one. (I have considered the Sig 556R, it uses the 7.63x39 round & AK magazines.)

So...Reagan was wrong. Good grief, the man doesn't sit at the right hand of god or anything. He said lots of stupid things. Gun owners are not all walking around with tattoos of Reagan with a halo on their butt cheeks.
