I was just reading that story. Hypocrites...

"Why does anyone need one of those for hunting?"

    "They're for personal defense."

"Why do you need that? A pistol or a shotgun is a better choice."

"Well, not if you are the government..."

I think someone wants to make sure his personal army has what they need to keep others in check.

They are going to need a hell of a lot more than 7000.

...I agree that we must be very careful not to reflect poorly on our hosts...but I believe that forums such as this are vitally important means by which to get the facts of what our government's spending our tax money to buy...and may, in fact, be the widest media by which this news becomes public...much more efficient than a man on a horse...information is power...

    Nope, no paranoia, no hypocrisy.

    Here's their organizational chart: http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/dhs-orgchart.pdf

Note that within DHS you have (just to name a few)

    1) US Secret Service --- anyone think they don't need these type of weapons?
    2) Customs and Border Patrol-- anyone want to deny these to Border Patrol Officers-- I thought half the folks who post here were
for just shooting anyone who tries to cross illegally :-
    3) US Coast Guard--- anyone seriously want to deny them these weapons when they interdict a "submarine" full of cocaine?
    4) Federal Law Enforcement Training Center--- I have no idea if they teach weapons and tactics there, but anyone want to deny
    them these items?
If the Union is once severed, the line of separation will grow wider and wider, and the controversies which are now debated and settled in the halls of legislation will then be tried in fields of battle and determined by the sword.
